the traditional college textbook model will likely suffer the same fate as the traditional encyclopedia when it was challenged by Wikipedia

among students surveyed:

51% likely to bring a laptop to class

39% likely to bring a print textbook to class

most students use some sort of technology to study (laptop, phone, e-reader)

still not buying digital textbooks

... but ...

The goal of the project E-MATE is to develop reusable frameworks and templates for the development of e-books, mobile and web-based applications for technical education.
