What is the differencebetween a IBCLC and a

CLC/CLE? IBCLC : International Board Certified LactationConsultant is the highest certification andonly internationally recognized credential inlactation. The certification requires 90 hours oflactation specific instruction, 500 to 1,000hours of clinical practice and successfulcompletion of the comprehensive certificationexam. IBCLCs are also able to provide clinicallactation management and education tofamilies and health care professionals. CLC/CLE: Certified Lactation Counselors andEducators complete 20 to 120 hours ofclassroom training and may take a writtenexam for certification. A CLE can providefamilies with education and guidance on basicbreastfeeding issues.
