3D PRINTED TITANIUM TA6V FOR

AEROSPACE ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING

WHAT IS TITANIUM TA6V?

Titanium TA6V is also known as Ti64 or Ti6Al4V.

It is an alpha-beta titanium alloy, which belongs to the TiA1 intermetallic

family.

It stays strong and tough at extreme temperatures.

It is lightweight and corrosion resistant.

CHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF TITANIUM TA6V

3

WHAT ARE THE MAIN APPLICATIONS OF TITANIUM TA6V IN AEROSPACE?

Titanium Ti6Al4V is used mainly in the manufacture of the following aerospace parts:

Low and high temperature fasteners

Discs

Spacers

Seals

Compressor Blades

Structural Parts

Complex Turbine Engine Components

4

WHAT ARE THE MAIN MECHANICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF TITANIUM TA6V?

The main characteristics of 3D printed titanium Ti6Al4V can be summarized as follow:

Very high tensile strength and tougness

Excellent yield strength (825 – 895 MPa)

Ultimate bearing and shear strength

Highly resistance to corrosion

Light weight

Good machinability

5

WHY SHOULD THE AEROSPACE ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING USE TITANIUM TA6V?

The combination of strength, light weight and corrosion resistance make

Inconel 718 and titanium Ti6Al4V best aerospace metals.

3D printed titanium parts cost less than traditionally made parts and create far

less waste.

3D printed titanium parts are lighter which contributes to fuel efficiency and

reduced CO2 emissions.
