509AUTO MAINS

FAILURE

The configurable Automatic MainsFailure Model 509 allows many ofthe industry’s demandingspecifications to be acheived.Variations of the unit offer additionalfunctions such as the RS232interface for remote monitoring by avolt free relay module, annunciator orbuilding management system.

The 509 is used to start a generatoron a mains (utility) failure, andtransfer the load when the engine’soperating criteria has been met. Onrestoration of the mains (utility)supply, the engine is returned tostandby mode.

Operation of the module is via a fourposition rotary switch (key-switchoption available) mounted on thefront panel with STOP, AUTO,MANUAL (Off-load run) and TEST(on-load run) positions.

Once activated, the 509 modulecarries out all the start and stopprocedures of the engine, indicatingoperational status and faultconditions, and automaticallyshutting down the engine , givingtrue first up fault condition of theengine failure. The information isdisplayed on an illuminated LiquidCrystal Display on the front panel.

Text and selective operationalsequences can be altered using the801 Calibration Unit. Adjustableparameters are displayed on thescreen when the CONFIGURATIONmode is activated.

Access to the critical operationalsequences and timers, for use byrestricted personnel, are barred by asecurity code.

Relay outputs are provided for FuelSolenoid Output, Start Output, AlarmOutput and one configurable output. The configurable relay is usuallyconfigured as pre-heat, however thisfunction can be changed to activate ona range of 6 different functions, conditions or alarms. The relayssupply positive plant supply out.

Configurable inputs are available forLow Oil Pressure or High EngineTemperature, allowing the module tofunction with N/O or N/C switches.Three fully configurable auxiliaryinputs are provided to give protectionexpansion. These can be selected tobe indication, warning or shutdowninputs either immediate or held offduring start up. Alternatively they maybe configured to provide additionalcontrol features to the module.

The 500 series modules have beendesigned for front panel mounting. The module is fitted into the panel cut-out with the fixing clips removed. These are then fitted from the rear.Connection is via locking plug andsocket connectors.
