PALM SUNDAY OF THE LORD’S PASSION | APRIL 5, 2020
Dear Parish Family,
Amidst all the uncertainty we might be going through for the current worldwide pandemic, Holy Mother Church invites us to enter into one of the most sacred times in our faith journey; the contemplation in a very unique way this year, of the events that brought us salvation, The Passion, Death and Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ. “We will remember how He loved us to His death, and still we celebrate, for He is with us here; and we believe that we will see Him when He comes, in His glory; we will remember, we will celebrate, we will reaffirm our belief”.
With “the Celebration of the Messianic Entrance” into Jerusalem this Palm/Passion Sunday, we begin this annual remembrance of HOLY WEEK. Following the Directives from the government and from our Bishop we “stay home to stay safe”. This could rather be an opportunity to celebrate Holy Week all “Spiritually together” as one Catholic Family. I want to PERSONALLY INVITE each one of you, to participate online through our Facebook or website page in each and all the different celebrations this HOLY WEEK.
EASTER TRIDUUM These are the three Big Days, which all together commemorate what happened during Jesus’ last days including his victory over death.
40 HOURS OF ADORATION has been CANCELLED On behalf of my brother priests, deacons and seminarians I thank you for this excellent gift during Holy Week. Please let us pray for each other from home.
DIVINE MERCY NOVENA/CHAPLET Beginning on Good Friday I also invite you to pray the Divine Mercy Novena leading to Divine Mercy Sunday, April 23rd from home. I will be live streaming that novena as well.
We will bless palms this weekend, save them for you and will be able to distribute them in the near future. Confessions cannot be available at this time. I encourage you to make a perfect act of contrition with the resolution to go to confession as soon as we are able to have them. Join also in receiving a Spiritual Communion when you participate in a live streamed Mass. Father Mike Ibach and I are trying to offer proper pastoral care and at the same time be socially responsible. It is tough.
Again, I invite all of you to make an effort “Stay home to stay Safe” but also participate as you are able to in the different celebrations. It has been quite a unique Lent this year, we have certainly joined our Lord in his suffering, his death and for sure we hope to achieve His promise to us all; His Resurrection.
May our Lord grant you His Blessing this Easter. We will be able to come together again and celebrate in person His Sacred Mysteries. As we remember, celebrate and believe the great events that brought us everlasting salvation through Jesus’ Passion, Death and Resurrection, and as we continue to enjoy and pass on God’s Divine Mercy through the practice of our devotions.
Greetings and Blessings, Fr. Cesar Vega M. Pastor.

Palm, or Passion, Sunday begins the most sacred week of the Church year—Holy Week. During these days, we prepare ourselves for Easter by prayerful reflection upon the events of Jesus’ Passion and death. You might display a crucifix in a prominent place this week, as reminder of the salvation Christ won for us. The crucifix can also be the focal point for family prayer during Holy Week.
Because of the length and complexity of the Passion narrative, young children have difficulty remaining attentive when it is proclaimed in its entirety. Families can choose to read a portion of this Sunday’s Gospel each day of Holy Week, providing ample opportunity for children to ask questions and respond to the events described there. In this way, the entire week can become a “way of the cross.”
Each day during Holy Week, the family can
gather in a prayerful space with a crucifix as the
focal point. The Passion as found in Matthew’s
Gospel might be read as follows throughout the
week:
Sunday: Matthew 21:1-11
(Gospel at the Procession with Palms)
Monday: Matthew 26:14-25
Tuesday: Matthew 26:26-35
Wednesday: Matthew 26:36-56
Thursday: Matthew 26:57—27:14
Friday: Matthew 27:15-54
After reading from the Gospel each night, the
family might reflect on the reading together.
Conclude your prayer time together by praying
the Lord’s Prayer and/or singing an appropriate
hymn, such as “Jesus, Jesus,” “Were You
There?” or “What Wondrous Love Is This.”

Why do Catholics call Good Friday “good”?
Although a sad day, Good Friday
actually is “good” because it is the
day when Jesus saved us from our sins,
reconciled us with God, and reopened
Heaven. Out of what seemed like defeat,
God brought a greater victory. With
His sacrifice, Jesus conquered sin and death.
On Good Friday, we see more clearly
God’s goodness, justice, wisdom, power,
and love. “God proves his love for us in that
while we were still sinners Christ died for
us” (Romans 5:8)
The church is not empty. The church has been deployed.

SPIRITUAL
COMMUNION
COMUNIÓN
ESPIRITUAL
SPIRITUAL COMMUNION PRAYER My Jesus,
I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You
into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You
sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there
and unite myself wholly to you. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.
ORACIÓN DE COMUNIÓN ESPIRITUAL
Creo Señor mío que éstas realmente presente en el Santísimo
Sacramento del altar. Te amo sobre todas las cosas y deseo
ardientemente recibirte dentro de mi alma;
pero, no pudiendo hacerlo ahora sacramentalmente, ven al menos
espiritualmente a mi corazón. Y como si te hubiese recibido, me abrazo y me uno todo a Ti; Oh Señor, no permitas que me
separe de Ti. Amen
ST. MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL PRAYER
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle;
be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do you, O prince of
the heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and the other evil spirits who
prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.
Amen.
