This pattern uses: Creative Grids® Charming 5 Square Template #CGRFFQ1
FABRIC & CUTTING INSTRUCTIONS:30 – 5" Squares: Cut 26 Squares – Each representing a letter of the Alphabet (an apple print for “A”; a butterfly print for “B”; etc.) Cut 4 Letter Print Squares for the Corners
1 1/8 – Yard of Black Fabric for the Sashing Cut 5 – 5" Strips the Width of the Fabric.
Using the Center Line on the Template, sub cut each Strip into 16 – 2 ½" x 5" Rectangles - (you need a total of 71)
Cut 4 – 2½" Strips the width of the fabric for binding
42 – 2 ½" Squares from an assortment of Marbled Fabrics for the Corner Posts.
Using the Center Lines on the Template, cut – 2 ½" Squares.
PIECING INSTRUCTIONSNote: Before sewing, adjust your machine for a SCANT ¼" seam allowance.
Piecing the Quilt:1. Lay out the 30 blocks in alphabetical
order, placing an alphabet block in each corner. Sew these 30 blocks into six rows of five blocks – alternating with the black sashing rectangles. Begin and end with a black sashing rectangle. Press the seams toward the sashing rectangles.
D E F G H2. Sew five sashing rectangles into a
row – alternating with an assortment of 2 ½" marble squares. Begin and end with a marble square. Press the seams toward the black sashing rectangles. Make a total of seven rows.
3. Sew these 13 rows together, butting seams. Press the seams toward the sashing strips.

4. Quilt as desired.
Making the Binding:1. Bind using the remaining 2½" strips of
black fabric.
