The Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year award is back, and it’s up to Auburn fans to vote

for coach Gene Chizik! The award goes to the college football coach who displays excellence

both on and off the field.

Voting begins Sep. 14 and ends Dec. 4. Fans can vote once a day, every day, at

www.coachoftheyear.com.

The award provides the winning coach with $50,000 to donate to the charity or charities

of his choice, and the alumni association receives a $20,000 grant for scholarships.

This year, they added the Alumni Rally Award, which grants an additional $10,000

donation to the alumni association that rallies the most fan support and wins the popular vote.

Winners are determined by a selection committee as well as fan votes. The selection

committee is made up of members of the College Football Hall of Fame and National Media.

The Coach of the Year award goes to one coach in each of the four NCAA divisions.

Last year coach Nick Saban won, so let’s show our Auburn support and vote for Coach

Chizik starting Sept. 14!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Date: April 14, 2011 Contact: Amanda Hodge Director of Marketing and Membership (334) 844-2889 Title: Liberty Mutual’s Coach of the Year A-Day Game Presentation

AUBURN, Ala. - The official presentation of Liberty Mutual’s Coach of the Year award will

take place at Auburn University’s 2011 A-Day game on April 16 during the pre-game ceremony.

Before the game, Howard Nelson, board member of the Auburn Alumni Association and

chair of the scholarship committee, will accept the $30,000 check on behalf of the alumni

association from Liberty Mutual.

The association would like to recognize the alumni who voted and helped coach Gene

Chizik earn more than 80,000 votes in the first round, which is a new record for the competition.

Winning this award would not have been possible without the persistence and hard work of

association members, alumni and friends.

Liberty Mutual made a $50,000 donation to the charities of Chizik’s choice, which went

to aTeam Ministries and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Lee County. Representatives from

these organizations will attend the presentation to accept their checks.

aTeam Ministries is a faith based ministry located in Birmingham, Ala., that provides

help and home to pediatric cancer families going through the oncology or hematology diagnosis

treatment journey. The organization plans to distribute the donation among their ministry

programs.

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Lee County will use the funds to enhance their

program by providing resources and opportunities that would not have been possible without the

donation.

The alumni association received a $20,000 grant and was also awarded the $10,000

Alumni Rally Award for garnering the most fan support throughout the competition. The

earnings will go toward the alumni association’s scholarship endowment.

We hope to see you at this year’s A-Day game so we can express our appreciation for

your votes. For more information about the alumni association, visit www.aualum.org.
