1. Name&ParentOrganization
ThenameofthisassociationshallbeAssociationofChinaandMongoliaInternationalSchoolsSportsLeaguehereinafterreferredtoastheACAMISSportsLeague.TheSportsLeagueisanorganizationundertheassociationofChinaandMongoliaInternationalSchoolsandisinallmatterssubjecttotheirconstitution,by-laws,rules,andregulations,andgovernancebytheACAMISBoardofDirectors.
2. Purpose
TheACAMISSportsLeagueisdesignedtoprovideaforumforACAMISmemberschoolathleticdirectors,coaches,andotherinterestedpartiestobettermeettheaimsandpurposesofACAMISinregardtosporteducation.TheaimsandobjectivesoftheACAMISSportsLeagueshallbeto:
a. Givestudentstheopportunitytoexperiencenewendeavoursasscholar-athletes.
b. Allowstudentstoparticipateinsports.
c. Allowstudentsasafeenvironmentinwhichtoexperiencewinningandlosing.
d. Allowstudentstoexperiencethethrillofbeingapartofateam.
e. Givestudentstheopportunitytotravel.
f. Fosterinteractionwithstudentsfromotherschools,andtodevelopbondsoffriendship.
3. Membership
SchoolsthatarecurrentlycomprehensivemembersofACAMISareconsideredmembersoftheACAMISSportsLeague.Membersshallbeencouragedto:
a. Supporteachschool'sAthleticDirector(ordesignee)attendanceattheACAMISAnnualGeneralMeeting.
DivisionallyAlignedmembersarerequiredto:
a. Hostatleastonecoretournament(withinatwo-yearrotation).
b. Sendaboysandagirlsteamtoallthreecoresporttournamentswithintheschool'sdivision.
DivisionalMembershipwillbereviewedeverytwoyearswitharecommendationtotheBoardtoreplaceaschooliftheabovecommitmentisnotbeingfulfilledwithoutexceptionalcircumstances.
UnalignedSchoolsarenotrequiredtohostorsendteamstocoresportstournaments.Unalignedschoolswillbeinvitedtoattendacoresporttournamentifaspacebecomesavailableduetothewithdrawalofanalignedschool.
4. Dues
Therewillbenoduesoutsideoftheschool’sACAMISannualmembershipfee.
5. Officers
a. AthleticChair.TheAthleticChairwillbeappointedbytheACAMISBoardfollowingavoteandrecommendationbythememberAthleticDirectorsattheAGM.He/shewillbeanAthleticDirectorfromamemberschool.ThecurrentChairisDannyClarke:dannyclarke@nanjing-school.com

c. Committee.AcommitteeiscomprisedofarepresentativefromeachoftheCoreSportDivisions.TherepresentativewillbeappointedbytheDivisionmembersandreviewedonanannualbasis.He/shewillbeanAthleticDirectorfromamemberschool.SeeAppendix4forcommitteemembers(highlightedintable).
6. Meetings
AnAnnualGeneralMeeting(AGM)oftheAthleticDirectors(ortheirrepresentative)ofallmemberschoolsoftheACAMISSportsLeagueshallbeheldduringthespringconference.TheDivisionalCommitteeshallmeetpriortothefullmeetingatthesameconference.SpecialmeetingsmaybecalledatthediscretionoftheACAMISBoardofDirectorsprovidedMemberSchoolsarenotifiedofsuchameetingnotlessthanfifteen(15)dayspriortothemeetingdate.
7. Voting
AllvotesconcerningtheACAMISSportsLeaguewillbelimitedtothememberschoolsoftheACAMISSportsLeagueandpassedbyamajorityvote.Eachmemberschoolwillhaveonevote.AllvotesshallbedesignedtoprovidetheACAMISExecutiveBoardwithrecommendationsofanadvisory,non-bindingnature.
8. AmendmentstoArticles
ThesearticlesmaybeamendedoralteredbyasimplemajorityvoteofthememberspresentandvotingattheAGMaslongastheydonotalterArticle7.
9. Seasons
a. Therewillbe3coresportseasonsovertheschoolinthefollowingorder:Volleyball,BasketballandSoccer

a. Therewillbeamaximumof6teamsperdivisionforcoresportsexceptinthemostrecentdivisiontobeformed,whichmayhaveupto9teams.Withmorethan9teamsthefollowingpatternshouldbefollowed:
i. Twofiveteamdivisions
ii. Onefiveteamandonesixteamdivision
iii. Twosixteamdivisions

b. InvitationalSports-thenumberofteamsallowedperschoolisatthediscretionofthetournamentorganizer.
12. SquadSizes
a. CoreSports-Thesquadsizeforeachteammustbewithinthefollowinglimits:
i. Volleyball(6-a-side,squadsize7-10)
ii. Basketball(5-a-side,squadsize6-10)
iii. Soccer(7-a-side,squadsize8-12)
b. InvitationalSports–thesquadsizeisatthediscretionofthehostschool.
13. Athlete’sAgeLimit
TobeeligibleforACAMISsportscompetition,thestudent-athletemaynothaveturned19yearsofageonorbeforeSeptember1ofthecurrentschoolyear.ParticipationinACAMIShighschoolcoresportseventsislimitedtohighschoolstudentsandthosewhoare14andaboveasof1stSeptemberandbelowthemaximumagelimit.Anyminimumagerequirementexceptionsrequireamajorityendorsementofmembersinvolvedinthatdivisionascoordinatedbythetournamentdirector.(seeApplicationforAthleteParticipationtemplateatappendix11).
TheACAMISChairwillcastanytie-breakingvoteifneeded.IftheACAMISAthleticsChairisrepresentingamemberschoolinthatdivisionthentheACAMISAthleticsCo-chairwillcastthetie-breakingvote.
Applicationsfortheuseofunderageplayerswouldneedtobeputforwardonorbeforetheduedateforrostersunlessthereareextraordinarycircumstances.

14. TournamentFeesforCoresports
TournamentfeesforparticipantteamsinthethreecoreACAMISsports(volleyball,basketball,soccer)shallbebasedontheformulaof800RMB/student,multipliedbythemaximumsquadsize(10forvolleyballandbasketballand12forsoccer).
IntheRedandOrangeDivisions,whereschoolsshareequallyinhosting,therewillbenoACAMIStournamentfeesassessedtoparticipatingschoolsinthecoresportsofvolleyball,basketball,andsoccer.
Paymentarrangementsforfeesareatthediscretionofthehostschool.Theinvoicemaybesentoneweekafterthetournamentinvitehasbeensentwhichisatthepointwhereallintentionstoparticipateshouldbeconfirmed.Guestschoolsmustbegivenatleast3weekstopaythetournamentfee.
FinanceprinciplesforHostingACAMISActivities:
a. Theprincipleforactivitiesistobreakevenorhaveasmallsurplus,upto1500RMB.Allmoniesupto1500RMBwillremaininthehostschool.
b. Anymonetarysurplusinexcessof1500RMBshouldberemittedtoACAMIS.
c. ProfessionaldevelopmenttrainingsshouldbeplannedtoresultinasurplusandthatsurpluswillgotoACAMIS.
d. Allschoolsarerequiredtocompleteafinancialreportandremitanysurpluswithin2monthsoftheevent.(seeAppendix8)
e. LossesforactivitiesaretypicallynotcoveredbyACAMISbudgetfundshoweverlossesmaybeconsideredinextraordinarycircumstancesuponawrittenrequesttotheACAMISBoard.
f. Hostschoolswillassumetheresponsibilityandwillnotchargethecostsforalladministrativecostsandfacilitycostsassociatedwitheventsatthatschool.
15. AQI
ACAMIStournamentswillmodifytournamenttimes/formatsinresponsetoanAQIreadingofover200,withtournamentstoppageordelaytooccuratover300(basedonbestavailabledata–indoororoutdoor)ThehostH.O.S.isdesignatedtoofficiallycancelatournamentbasedonACAMISguidelines.
16. SportsRules
TheCoresportswillbeplayedaccordingtotherulesaswrittenintheinappendicesbelow.
RulesfortheInvitationalsportsshallbedeterminedbythehostschool,withparticipatingschoolsinformedofsaidrulesnolessthan4weekspriortothetournamentdate.Onceanadditionalsportbecomesestablished,appropriateruleswillbedetermined.
17. RulesInfractions
AstudentwhorepresentsaschoolinanACAMISeventistobeafulltimeenrolledmemberofthatschool.AnyschoolfoundplayingineligibleplayersinanACAMISeventwillbedisqualifiedfromtheimmediatetournament.Ifthisinformationisforthcomingaftertheevent,thenthisteamwillbedeemeddisqualifiedandtrophiesandrankingswillbeadjustedaccordingly.
AllACAMISparticipantsareexpectedtoofficiallyagreetotheACAMIS‘StudentParticipationAgreement’(seeappendix5,6)whichmaybedoneonpaperorelectronically.AnyruleinfringementsaccordingtotheParticipationAgreementshallbereportedtotheACAMISExecutiveOfficewheretheywillberecordedforfouryearsandsharedwiththeACAMISAthleticsChair.

Section2:SportsTournamentGuidelines
ThefollowingguidelinesarewrittenfortheCoreSports.InvitationalSportstournamentsshouldtrytofollowsimilarguidelineswherepossiblebutwiththeunderstandingthatlocalconditionsmayrequireadaptationstobemade.
TournamentFormatforcoresports
a. Fortournamentswith6teams:
I. Singleroundrobinfollowedbyeliminationgameswiththefollowingformat:
i. Game16/17/18 B/G 1v4,2v3&5v6
ii. Game19 B/G 3rd/4thPlay-off
iii. Game20 B/G ChampionshipGame
b. Fortournamentsthatdonothave6teamsthetournamentformatwillbedecidedbythetournamentcoordinator.Thisformatmustbesentouttoparticipatingschoolsatleastoneweekpriortothetournament.
c. Eachyeargirlsandboysplay-offswillbereversed.Year1–Girlschampionshipgameisthefinalgame.Year2–Boyschampionshipgameisthefinalgame.Asaguide,in2010-2011theBoysChampionshipwasplayedfirst.
d. Inanefforttoensuresafetyandequityineventschedules,thefollowingprioritieswillbefollowed:
I. Noteamshouldplayback-to-backonanydayintheroundrobinstage.Game-Rest-Gameshouldnotoccurmorethanonceinatournamentforanyteam.
II. Ifpossible,theschooltravelingthefarthestdistanceshouldnotbescheduledtoplayfirstonthefirstday.
III. Lastgameonedayandfirstgamethenextdayshouldnotoccurmorethanonceinatournamentforanyteam.
IV. Theboysandgirlsteamsfromthesameschoolshouldnotbescheduledtoplayatthesametimemorethanonceinatournament.
V. Rotatecourtsandfieldsforboysandgirlscompetitions.Itisexpectedthathostschoolsofsportstournamentswillfairlyrotatealltournamentcourtsandfieldswiththeboysandgirlsdivisionsforallteamsinvolved,wheneverpossible.
e. Fortournamentswith3venues:
I. Three-venueformatsmaybeusedatthediscretionofthehostschooltournamentdirector,ensuringthatadequaterestisstillprovided.
II. Note:pleasenotethataThree-venueformatwillnotbeseenasaviolationofthesepriorities.

f. ThefollowingistherecommendedstructureofCoresportstournamentsandinvitationaltournamentsthatrequires2andahalfdaysofcompetition.Invitationaltournamentscanbeadaptedasneeded.

i. Teamstraveltohostschool.
ii. Thefirstand/orsecondgameoftheroundrobinshouldbeplayedonafternoon/evening.
II. DayTwo
i. RoundRobingamescontinue.Ideallythreegameswillbeplayedbyeachteam
III. DayThree:
i. Finalroundrobingameinthemorning(ifnotalreadycompleted)
ii. Finalpositiongamesplayed.
iii. PresentationDinner
IV. DayFour:
i. Teamstravelhome
g. Tie-Breakers-‘Ifanystageofthetie-breakerseparatesallofthetiedteams,thenthetie-breakiscomplete.If,atanystageofthetie-breaker,onlytwoteamsremaintied,theheadtoheadresultwilldeterminetheplacing.’
HostSchoolExpectations–CoreSports
a. CommunicationwithschoolsisessentialforthesmoothrunningandpreparationofACAMISSportsTournaments.Communicationshouldbeconductedviaemailorbyphonewhennecessary.SeeAppendix7forcontactdetails
b. Tournamentdirectorswillsendoutinformationtoparticipatingschoolstwomonthspriortoscheduleddate,andparticipatingschoolswillrespondwithin1weekiftheyareunabletofulfiltheircommitmenttothetournament.
c. Ifaschoolinthedivisionisunabletofulfiltheircommitmenttothetournament,thefollowingprocedureshalltakeplace:
i. TheAthleticsChairisinformedandtheAthleticsChairofferstheopportunitytoallunalignedmemberschoolsonafirstcomefirstservedbasis
ii. Ifnounalignedmemberschooltakesthisopportunity,theTournamentDirectorcanoffertheopportunitytoalocalnon-ACAMISprivateschoolortoasecondteamfromthehostschool.Whenmakingthisdecision,ajudgmentneedstobemadewithregardtothesubstituteteambeingatacompetitivelevelwiththeotherteamsinthedivision.
iii. Everyeffortshouldbemadetofindareplacement,butIfnonecanbefound,theTournamentDirectormakesarrangementsfora5teamtournament.
d. ThecommunicationfromtheTournamentDirectorshouldinclude:

III. Trophies/Awards-Trophieswillbeawardedforfirst,secondandthirdplacedteams.Furtherawardswillbeasfollows:
i. Awardswillbegiventoindividualathletesfromeachschoolwhoarenominatedforthe“alltournament”team.Nominationsforalltournamentteamwillbeonthefollowingbasis:
1. 1stplacedteam=3nominations
2. 2ndplacedteam=2nominations
3. 3rdplacedteam=2nominations
4. 4th,5thand6thplacedteams=1nominationeach.
ii. AwardswillbeaT-shirtindicatingalltournamentselectionandatrophy/medallion(atthehostschoolsdiscretion)
iii. Atrophywillbeawardedtotheteamvotedthemostsportingteamatthetournament.Votingforthistrophywillbedonebyallteamsbasedonastandardrubric(Appendix11)

IV. Transport-Transportshouldbeprovidedtoandfromairport/train/ferrystationforallvisitingteams.Transportshouldalsobeprovidedtoandfromtournamentvenueandhostfamilyresidence/hotel.
V. Program-Aprogramofthetournamentshouldbeprovided.Hostschoolshavetheoptionofproducingeitherahardcopyorelectronicversionofthisprogram.Schoolsarealsoencouragedtocreatewebsitesfortheirindividualevents.Theprogramshouldincludebutnotbeexclusiveto:

ii. Lunchshouldbeprovidedbythehostschooloneachdayofthetournamentforathletesandcoaches.
iii. Eveningmealsshouldbeprovidedbythehostfamily(ifhomestaytournament)withtheexceptionofdaythreewhenapresentationdinnermustbeprovidedbythehostschool.Ifathletesarenotbeinghostedtheyshouldarrangefortheirowndinnerunlesstournamentplayextendsintodinnertimeinwhichcasethehostschoolshouldprovidethedinner.
iv. Drinksshouldbemadeavailableatalltimesduringthetournament.
v. Hostsshouldensurethatvegetarianoptionsareavailableforeachmealtheyprovide.
VII. Housing
i. ForRedandOrangeDivisions,thehostschoolmustoffertoprovidehomestayhousingtoallvisitingathletesandcoaches.Visitingschoolsmaychoosetoarrangetheirownhotelaccommodationforathletesand/orcoachesattheirownexpense.Afterthe2017-2018season,homestayswillbediscontinued.
ii. ForallotherDivisions,ifthehostschoolcannotprovidehousing,theywillsecureaspecialrateata“tournamenthotel”andallexpenseswillbetheresponsibilityoftheindividualvisitingschool.
iii. ForInvitationalsports,homestaysarenotexpectedbutifaschoolfeelstheycanhosttheathletesinhomestheyareencouragedtodoso.
iv. HostSchoolswillmakeeveryefforttoensurethatathletesarenothomestayedorplacedinhotelsonanindividualbasis.Eachevening,visiting

coaches/chaperonesshallmakecontactwitheachstudent/parentatthecurfewtimetoestablishthattheyareattheirhostshouseorintheirhotelroom.Hostschoolswillprovidethiscontactinformationtovisitingcoaches/chaperones.Forhomestays,withtheunderstandingthatchangesdohappen,hostschoolsshouldprovidethenameandmeansofcontactforparticipatingstudentstotheAthleticDirectorsofparticipatingteamsatleasttwodaysbeforedeparture.
VIII. Coaches’Meeting-Acoachesmeetingshouldbescheduledfordayoneofthetournamenttodiscussanyrelevantmatterswithallvisitingcoaches.Coachesmeetingmayincludebutisnotexclusiveto:

1. Theuseoftobacco,drinkingofalcohol,oruseofillegaldrugswillnotbeallowedduringtravelorwhileinthehostcityduringtheperiodoftimecoveredbytheACAMISactivity.(Consequence:suspensionfromimmediateandfurtherparticipationandstudent’sprincipalnotified.AsecondoffenseinthesameschoolyearwillresultinexclusioninallACAMISeventsforoneschoolyearincludingthesameeventthefollowingyear.)
2. Anydeparturesfromthehotelwillbedoneonlywithpermissionoftheleadchaperone/coach.(Consequence:disciplinaryactionatthediscretionoftheleadchaperone)
