1. UTKAL DIVAS CELEBRATION:
April 1, 2015
Utkal Divas was celebrated by the
students and teachers of Aditya Birla
Public School, UAIL Campus on 1st of
April 2015 to commemorate the
formation of Odisha State. The choir
group of the school sang a song
commending the state. To mark this
occasion, games and a quiz competition
was organized. The children were asked
questions on the incredible, scenic,
serene and sublime Odisha. The winners
were awarded with prizes as tokens of
appreciation. A movie was shown to the
children on the rich cultural heritage and sublimity of Odisha.
2. INTER-HOUSE ENGLISH & HINDI CALLIGRAPHY COMPETITION:
April 11, 2015
Handwriting is the index of one’s personality. Children need to be trained from the very
tender age how they can write beautifully with their free hands. In order to motivate the
children to write beautifully and legibly, the Inter-House Hindi & English Calligraphy
Competition was organized on 11th April 2015. All the students from classes I to IX had
participated in it. The winners from each group were awarded with prizes and certificates and
the selected pieces of writing were displayed in the school display board.
3. FIGHTING THE FIRE:

celebrated 'Fire Safety Week' on
15th April 2015. Mr. S.V
Shrivastava, AGM, Security and
Fire Services along with his
colleagues conducted the
programme in the school premises.
All the students of ABPS were
addressed by Mr. Srivastava. He
explained to the students, using the
fire triangle of heat, fuel, oxygen,
about how fire is caused, the four types of fire and ways in which they can prevent fires. The

team also displayed and demonstrated the use and part of various types of fire
extinguishers. The students got a hands-on-experience on the usage of different types of fire
extinguishers.
Soon after the fire demo the students were gathered in the AVH and Mr. Srivastava asked some
questions to the students related to Fire Safety. It is a matter of pride that the children
answered those questions accurately and enthusiastically. They were also rewarded for their
correct answers.
4. INTER-HOUSE ART COMPETITION:
April 18, 2015
The Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) is very much required in school education. By participating
in these competitions, students get an opportunity to showcase their innate talents. The Inter
House Art Competition was conducted on 18th April 2015. The creativity of the students was
reflected in their awesome drawing. The result of this competition was declared in the
Morning Assembly. The winners were awarded and appreciated by our Principal Sir,
Mr.Laxminarayan Dash. The selected works were displayed in the Display Board of the school.
5. LEARNING WORKSHOP ON EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE:
April 25 & 26, 2015
A two day Learning Workshop on Emotional Intelligence was organized on 25th & 26th April, 2015 in the AVH of ABPS. Mr. M. Ramesh Kumar, Sr. VP (HR, Admin & CSR), UAIL Doraguda inaugurated the learning session. The Chief Facilitator, Dr. H. P Das enlightened the teachers to sharpen their emotional competencies. We should develop the art of learning. We should tune our mind in a positive, productive and constructive way. We have to be creative and innovative in our approach. Every day we have an opportunity to reorient ourselves. With these notes the workshop was very much meaningful for the teachers.
6. VISIT OF SENIOR PRINCIPALS OF GROUP SCHOOLS:
April 28 & 29, 2015
Ms. Bushra Rani, Principal, ABPS, Rawan and Ms. Indumati Chakraborty, Principal, ABPS
Awarpur, visited the school on 28th & 29th April 2015.They were welcomed by the Principal
& staff of ABPS, UAIL Campus. Keeping to the tradition of the school, they planted saplings and
were escorted to the AVH for an interaction with the teachers. Ms. Bushra Rani appreciated
the team of teachers doing a commendable job with a missionary zeal in the remotest location
of the country.
She insisted the teachers that the school cannot be the best school but can give the best
schooling. Soon after this they interacted with the teachers personally. They revisited the
school on 29th April,

7. SCHOOL REOPENS:
June 18, 2015
The school reopened on 19th June 2015 after a long summer break. APBS, UAIL Campus
extended warm welcome to the brimming students of the school. The daily chore of the
school activities went on from this day. A special morning assembly was organized. Mr.
L.N Dash, the Principal of the school welcomed the students and teachers anticipating a
fruitful session ahead.
8. ORIENTATION PROGRAMME FOR THE PARENTS OF PLAY CLASS
June 22, 2016
An Orientation Programme for the parents of Play Class was conducted on 22nd June 2015 in the AVH. The parents and the toddlers were warmly welcomed by the Principal Mr. L.N Dash. The main objective of the programme was to enlighten the parents about the school system, timings, school activities and child safety. The teachers of the nursery wing explained about nutrition, healthy eating habits and parenting.

9. INTER- HOUSE ENGLISH STORY TELLING COMPETITION
June 27, 2015
The Inter-House English Storytelling Competition was conducted in Aditya Birla Public School, UAIL Campus on 27th June 2015. The enthusiastic competitors displayed their unfathomable talent. The participants of all the four houses told the stories elegantly. They were adjudged on basis of content, confidence, fluency and accuracy. Winners were felicitated with prizes and
certificates as token of appreciation.
10. PARENT-TEACHER MEETING (VI-IX)
July 4, 2015
A Parent-Teacher Meeting (VI-IX) was organized on 4th July, 2015 in the AVH. The objective
of the meeting was to discuss about CCE. The difference between Examination and
Assessment was clearly explained by the Principal, Mr. L.N Dash. Other aspects of
assessment like FA, SA, ATT, grading and evaluation were discussed in the meeting. The
parents were also enlightened about childcare and parenting.
11. PARENT-TEACHER MEETING : III-V
July 11, 2015
In order to update the parents on different initiatives taken by the CBSE, a Parent-Teacher Meeting (III-V) was conducted in the AVH on July 11, 2015 The parents were delineated about the difference between the so called traditional examination system and CCE by the Principal, Mr. L.N Dash. There was also a discussion on child-care and parenting.

12. INTER-HOUSE SOLO SONG AND GROUP SONG COMPETITION
July 17, 2015

organized on 17th July, 2015
in the Library. Thirty six
students from Classes-III-IX
ardently participated in the
Solo Song Competition.
Selected singers from each
house sang melodiously in
four groups. It was very
delightful as the budding
singers chanted musically.
The judgment was done on the
basis of SUR, LAYA, TAL and BHAWA (Expression). The jolly event came to an end with the
prize distribution and the prizes and certificates were given away to the winners by Mr. L.N
Dash, the Principal of the school.
13. INTER-HOUSE HINDI STORYTELLING COMPETITION:
July 25, 2015
The Inter-House Hindi Story telling
Competition was conducted on 25th July,
2015 in the Library. Selected participants
from Classes-III-IX competed in three
groups. Each Participant was excellent in
telling the story in the national language.
They were adjudged on the basis of their
confidence, content, language and
expression. The winners were felicitated
with prizes and certificates as tokens of
appreciation.
14. PARENT-TEACHER MEETING (I-III)
July 31, 2015
A fruitful interaction with the parents of Classes-I-III was held on 31st July, 2015 in the AVH. Different issues on pedagogy were discussed in this meeting. The parents were thrown light that education is a tri-polar process in which the teacher, parents and pupil are involved. The parents were given complete autonomy to present their views for the all-round development of their children.

15. 69th INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION:
August 15, 2015
‘’At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the World sleeps, India will awake to life
and freedom. A moment comes but rarely in history………………’’ -Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
To pay homage to the countless freedom fighters and spread the fragrance of freedom, the 69th Independence Day was celebrated at Aditya Birla Public School, UAIL Campus. Mr.Laxminarayan Dash, the
Principal of the School, unfurled the
tricolour and the National Anthem
followed. The students of the school displayed their creativity by doing the March Past in honour of the National Flag and glory of Mother India. The birth day of Sri Aurobindo Ghose – the poet, freedom fighter, yogi, guru and philosopher was also celebrated on this euphoric day. To
keep alive the flame of freedom, the school choir Group sang a marvelous patriotic song.
A few student spoke confidently on Independence Day and Sri Aurobindo Ghose.
Mr.L.N.Dash, the Principal of the school, addressed the gathering with his valuable
message. He reminded the students of the valuable contributions of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.
He appealed each one to transform their dreams into reality. The programme at the school
was completed with the National song of India ‘Vande Mataram’.
Soon after the programme at school, the students were taken to the helipad ground, UAIL
Campus. The brimming buds presented a series of dance performance followed by a skit.
The theme of the dance performance was ‘Unity in Diversity ‘and the skit traced a few
glimpses of the past. The cultural programme was appreciated by one and all.
16. INTER-HOUSE HINDI SPEECH/DEBATE COMPETITION: August 22, 2015
The Inter-house Hindi Speech & Debate Competition was conducted on 22nd August 2015.
The students from Classes-III-VI participated in
the speech competition in two groups
whereas a debate competition was organised
for the students of Classes-VII-IX. Each
participant had availed a right platform to
showcase his/her talent. They were adjudged
on the basis of confidence, content, fluency,
accuracy, and relevance. The winners were
felicitated with prizes and certificates by Mr.
L.N Dash, the Principal of the school.

17. SPECIAL MORNING ASSEMBLY
August 26, 2015
The Pre Primary Wing of ABPS, UAIL Campus organised a Special Morning Assembly today on
Raksha Bandhan. The school assembly is the best forum to inspire and motivate students. It serves
as a platform to develop self-confidence, acquiring knowledge and creativity. The morning
Assembly started with the Prayer followed by inspirational thought and quiz. The students made
the audience aware that it is festival which shows love and devotion between a brother and a
sister. Sisters tie a holy thread around their brothers’ wrist who in term promise to protect their
sisters. The children enacted a song and presented a beautiful dance on Raksha Bandhan and
distributed Rakhi to give assembly a festive touch. Nearly 35 parents witnessed the programme
and encourage the children by taking part in Rakhi making competition. Three of them were
felicitated by Mr.L.N.Dash, the Principal of the School. The parents expressed their sincere thanks
for involving them in the aforesaid programme. The assembly was concluded with the National
Anthem.
18. TEACHER’S DAY CELEBRATION
September 4, 2015

Teacher’s day was celebrated at Aditya Birla Public School, UAIL Campus. The programme began with the Morning Assembly, Mr.L.N.Dash, the Principal of the School, along with other teachers, garlanded the portrait of Dr. S.Radhakrishnan – the eminent teacher India has ever produced.
A teacher is one of the finest creations of God who has a vital role in shaping the children’s life. The celebration for this blessed one continued in the Audio Visual Hall. A few fun Games were conducted for the teachers. Soon after this a scintillating dance performance by a group of boys and girls vibrated the atmosphere. Mr. Raghunath Pratihari – AVP (HR), had been kind enough to
join the teachers and wished them.
19. INTER SCHOOL SPEECH COMPETITION
September 14, 2015
To pay tribute to the legendary engineer, Sir M. Visvesvaraya, an Inter School Speech Competition
was conducted on 14th September, 2015 in the Audio-visual Hall of Aditya Birla Public School,
UAIL Campus. Mr. Avinash Panda-AVP-Electrical Dept., UAIL, had kindly consented to be the Chief
Guest of this occasion. Students from five schools of the vicinity including the host school
participated enthusiastically in this competition. The participants were adjudged on the basis of
content, confidence, language accuracy and overall expression.
It was a splendid platform for the budding learners to develop their public speaking skills.

20. GANDHI & SHASTRI JAYANTI

To mark it a special day and spread the message of truth, non-violence, peace, pleasure, prosperity and unity, Gandhi & Shastri Jayanti was celebrated on 2nd October, 2015 in the audio-visual hall of Aditya Birla Public School, UAIL Campus.
It is a matter of great pleasure that representatives of different religions were present on this auspicious day and conveyed the message of truth, beauty and goodness. At the outset, the dignitaries along with the Principal and teachers of the school garlanded the portraits of Gandhiji and Shatriji- the two eminent personalities India has ever produced. The School Choir sang a melodious welcome song followed by Gandhiji’s favourite Bhajan Vaishnaba Dev ki………. . Mr. L.N Dash, the Principal of the school, addressed the gathering and insisted on the point that there is one religion in the world i.e. humanity. He added the relevance of Gandhian philosophy in the present day society. Reverend father Rajesh Patra, Holy Prayer Church, Koraput represented Christianity and spoke on the divine providence to mankind. Mr. Virendra Singh, CGM,M/S.
K.V.Mohan Rao Group was the representative of Sikhism. Dating back to history, he delineated
how the great people and rulers have tried to bring harmony among people of different religions.
Mr. Faruque Ahmed, Manager Process-UAIL enlightened the gathering about the principles of
Islam religion and summed up with the message of unity in diversity. Mr. S.R Mishra, PET of the
school, represented the Hinduism tracing the origin and preaching of Hinduism. The children
were shown a documentary on M.K Gandhi. Finally, a vote of thanks was proposed by Mr.
Rajendra Kumar Sasmal (TGT-Science).
21. CHILDREN’S DAY CELEBRATION AND FANCY DRESS COMPETITION
November 14, 2015
Children’s Day was celebrated at Aditya Birla Public School, UAIL Campus on November 14, 2015.
This day is very special as two icons of modern India- Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Mr. Aditya
Vikram Birla were born on this day. Mr. L.N Dash, the Principal of the school accompanied by the
Head Boy and the Head Girl garlanded the portraits of these two eminent personalities.
Getting back to the past, a small skit on Nehru’s stay in Naini prison was staged by the children in
the morning assembly. Mr. Dash, in his address to the students, advised them to be the role
models of themselves. Miss. Abhipsa Rani Naik traced the successful journey of Mr. Aditya
Vikram Birla, the reputed industrialist India has ever produced. Miss. Neha Pandey made an
eloquent speech on Pt. Nehru. It was a day for the children filled with funs and frolics. Pupils from
Play Class to Class-II took part in the Fancy Dress Competition. The little angels were looking very
much graceful in their colourful costumes portraying different themes and characters. Each of the
participants presented beautifully. They were judged by a panel of prestigious judges. The
winners were awarded with prizes and certificates as tokens of appreciation. It added vivacity to
the programme when a group of children presented a melange of cultural programmes.
22. Annual Function Celebrated with Pomp and Grandeur
December 19, 2015
The first Annual Function of Aditya Birla Public School,
UAIL Campus was celebrated on 19th December, 2015
with pomp and grandeur. Keeping to the tradition, the
glittering occasion began with lighting the lamp by the
Chief Guest Mr. Vijay Sapra, Unit Head & President,
UAIL Doraguda. Other dignitaries Mrs.Veena Sapra-
President, Utkalina Ladies Club, Mr.RaghunathPratihari,
VP-HR, Mr. Shree Nath Mishra, CFO, UAIL Doraguda, Mr.
B.K Padhi-AVP.Mines, UAIL were also present. The maiden edition of the school magazine
‘Arunoday’ which displays creativity and unfathomable talents of the budding learners was
released on this occasion. Mr. L.N Dash, Principal of the school presented the annual report
outlining the noteworthy achievements of the school during the current session. Prizes and
certificates were given away by the Chief Guest and the guests of honour to the students for their
distinguished achievements in different fields as tokens of encouragement. The cultural
extravaganza comprising of dance, song and skit made the audience spellbound. It was a feast for
the eyes when the little angels displayed a wonderful dance performance. Not to be left behind,
the senior boys and girls guided by a dedicated team of teachers vibrated the stage with their
scintillating performance. It left an indelible imprint in the minds and hearts of the entire ABPS
fraternity, audience, parents and people of the surrounding communities.
23. INTER-HOUSE ENGLISH SPEECH/DEBATE COMPETITION
January 16, 2016
To develop a competitive spirit, creativity and divergent thinking among students, different
competitions are conducted at ABPS, UAIL Campus round the year. These co-curricular activities
provide students opportunities to showcase their talents and creativity. The Inter-House English
Speech/Debate Competition was conducted on 16th January, 2016 in the AVH of the school. The
students of classes-III-IV participated in the speech competition on the topic ‘Honesty is the Best
Policy’ where as Group-B (V-VI) students debated on the topic ‘Everybody Should be Vegetarian’.
The students of Group-C (VII-IX) had a wonderful war of words on the topic ‘Returning of Awards
by the Indian Writers as a Protest against Growing Intolerance in society is Unjust’. The
participants were adjudged on the basis of content, confidence, fluency and accuracy. It is a matter
of delight that Mr. Sonal Jena from Corporate Communications, Aditya Birla Group had kindly
consented to be one of the judges of the competition. ‘Matter, Method and Manner are the three
important ingredients of a good debater,’ said Mr. Jena in his message to the students. The
Principal of the school, Mr. L.N Dash appreciated the efforts of the participants and encouraged
them to bring laurels to school. The winners were awarded with prizes and certificates.
24. NETAJI & VEER SURENDRA SAI JAYANTI CELEBRATED
January 23, 2016
To pay tribute and commemorate the birthday of the legendary freedom fighters Netaji
Subhas Chandra Bose and Veer Surendra Sai, a
special morning assembly was conducted on 23rd
January, 2016. Mr. L. N Dash, the Principal of the
school along with the teachers, Head Boy and
Head Girl offered flower petals on the portraits
of Netaji and Veer Surendra Sai. A speech on
Netaji’s life and works was delivered by Prachi
Nayak (VI) where as Kanchana Naik (V) spoke on
the important contributions of Veer Surendra Sai
in the freedom struggle of India. Winners of
Intra-Class Quiz Competition. To add vivacity to
this occasion, the Intra-Class Quiz Competition was conducted on this auspicious day. The
competition was conducted in two phases for the students of class-I & II respectively. It was a
right platform for the budding learners to showcase their general awareness. The winners
were felicitated with prizes and certificates. It was appreciated by the parents who witnessed
the contest.
25. 67th REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATIONS
January 26, 2016
Aditya Birla Public School, UAIL Campus celebrated the 67th Republic Day in the School premises with pomp and splendour. The head of the institution, Mr.L.N.Dash hoisted the National Flag. The National Anthem was followed by a patriotic song by the school choir. Speeches were delivered by
children and an Odia patriotic poem was recited. The Principal enlightened the audience going back to the history of the making of constitution. The celebration then ended with the National Song. Utkal Alumina Computer learning Centre, a CSR initiative was inaugurated by Mr.Vijay Sapra, Unit Head & President, UAIL Doraguda in the School. This is a great effort of CSR as a contribution towards the welfare of the society. The programme was attended by Mr.Raghunath Pratihari,Vice- President-HR, Mr.Rakesh Mishra , GM-Admin , and Mr.L.N.Padhi, the District coordinator of OKCL. The centre that will produce many professionals in the coming year was appreciated by all.
26. SWACHH BHARAT-SWACHH VIDYALAYA
January 29, 2016
As per the notification dated 25th January, 2016 regarding Mass Pledge Campaign, we the
students, teachers and Principal of the school have taken the pledge. 437 students and 24 teachers
took the pledge in the morning assembly on 28th January, 2016 administered by the Principal Mr.
L.N Dash.
To carry forward Gandhiji’s dream of clean India, we have also conducted Swachh Bharat
Activities. The school choir sang a melodious song on Swachhata. Furthermore, a tableau was
presented by the students in the morning assembly to sensitize the future citizens of India
regarding cleanliness practices.
To keep alive the spirit of cleanliness initiatives, a Swachhata Ambassador Committee (SAC)
was formed. TheCommittee was set up comprising five students namely TankadharBairagi-VIII,
Prachi Nayak-VI, Arnav Nishith Khandelwal-IV, the Head Boy Santosh Kumar Naik-IX and Head
Girl Suahani Khandelwal-VIII. Two teachers, Mr.Suryaranjan Mishra and Mr.Dhiraj Mohanty were
included in this Committee to guide them.
In order to motivate the students and inculcate cleanliness habit among the students, Good Habit
Cards are regularly awarded to selective students.
It’s our endeavour to continue these activities so as to fulfil Gandhiji’s dream of neat and clean
India.
27. WORKSHOP ON “ENHANCING EFFECTIVENESS & IMPACT OF SCHOOLS”
February 6, 2016
A workshop on “Enhancing Effectiveness & Impact of Schools” was organized in the Audio-Visual
Hall of our school on 6th February, 2016 by the Principal Mr. L.N Dash. The main objective was to
empower and familiarise the teachers with latest tools and techniques of teaching-learning
process. Various aspects of pedagogy was discussed keeping in mind the innovative methods of
teaching linked with real life situations. It was a meaningful learning session comprising activities,
discussion, pair-work and presentation.
28. YOGA & SPORTS CAMP
A healthy mind resides in a healthy body. The
students of classes- III-VIII were encouraged to
participate in a Yoga and Sports Camp organized
at our school from 5th March to 16th March,
2016.
