Abnormal cell growth. Can result in the formation of a tumour or invasion of another area of the body.

This is a very wide group of diseases.

Stops abnormal cell growth. Can also affect healthy cells which lead to side effects.

IndicationUsed to treat cancer (mainly leukemia and stomach cancer).

Mechanism of Action Interferes with the synthesis of folic acid in cells undergoing abnormal growth, which prevents cell replication.

Indications (Use)

• It is used to treat arthritis.

• It is used to treat cancer.

• It is used to treat leukemia.

• It is used to treat psoriasis.

• It is used to treat bowel disease.

Side Effects• Anemia• Increased risk of infection• Upset stomach• Loss of appetite• Diarrhea• Mouth sores• Headache• Hair loss• Harm to the liver or kidney

Important PointsPatients will be more sensitive to the sun. Contraindicated in pregnancy.

• It is used to treat cancer.
