AsThoughtarchitecture from concept to built form

Our main goal is to describe the design process, the architectural solutions and the detailing choices of a built work in a chronological order. The dream – that is also the ambition – is to tune at the best the structure of this on-line manual and to spread around its template in order to amplify the power of collecting and publishing in a such huge way that in a few years we could arrive at the largest open source and most browsed utility for architectural students not only in Europe.

9Erba Municipal Library - Studio Ortalli

office presentation

Marco Ortalli was born in Erba at Como on 1953. On 1977 he graduated from the Faculty of

Architecture of Politecnico Di Milano. He opened an architecture studio named “Studio Ortalli”

in Erba (Como) on 1978. From 1989 he has been director of the Architects of the Province of

Como and from 2000 he started working as professor to different universities, such as Faculty

of Architecture at University of Ferrera and at the School of Architecture at Politecnico (courses

urban planning, theory and techniques of architectural design etc). The office works for private

customers as well as for public bodies. The work carried out by the studio has so far faced many

different aspects of architecture, such as public architecture, private architecture, office build-

ings, libraries, urban projects, architecture of the internal etc.

I am Pantelina Polychronidou and i was born in Nicosia at Cyprus on 1991. I am studying architecture at the University of Cyprus and

temporary studying in Milan at Politecnico di Milano as an erasmus student for one semester. I chose architecture because i think

that it is the science that gives to the people the opportunity to live in a space with qualities. A well designed space can offer to the

people that living in that space, feelings and good qualities of life, through the right and balanced light, shadows, colours, views, air

etc. Generally I love travelling and experiencing life, and i believe that through the experiences that you collect and the visual stimuli

from the trips, you can understand the 3dimensional space better and widen your horizons for what “space” realy can be and that

increases the possibilities for alternative ideas of forming “spaces” to live in.
