CCM Style Shoot - Leaves & Lace

I enjoy photographing people and have been focused on beauty, fashion and lifestyle; I also enjoy making images of things and places.

Like many, I picked up photography as a kid using a Kodak Brownie. I learned the basics of photography in my college years with a Pentax K1000. After a long hiatus, I picked up a DSLR and discovered the world of photography again, helped by the wonders of current technology. I have honed my photography skills under the tutelage of Don Giannatti. My main camera is a Nikon D7000 with Nikon prime lenses.

I cherish the relationships I have made through photography. I am constantly meeting new and interesting people.

My current camera is a Canon 1Ds II, with a 16-35 F2.8, a 50 F1.2 and a 70-200 F2.8 on the lens front. I have both 580 flashes and Elinchrom Ranger lights for the bigger stuff.

I began shooting photos at downhill mountain bike races in 2001. Since then I have done a bunch of downhill and motocross photography. Since 2007 I have been a full time product photographer, so working in the studio has become second nature.

Essentially I taught myself to shoot sports photography. I like shooting anything two-wheeled, whether it is BMX, a mountain bike, or motocross. All of those are fun. Capturing that perfect moment of concentration or difficult move is always somewhat tricky.

My family has been going to Ristorante Italiano for many years and it’s always something to look forward to. The traditional Italian entrees and the vibrant wall murals give you a feeling of being in the old world. To start, grab a glass of the house red and enjoy the caprese appetizer. With fresh mozzarella, basil, and Roma tomatoes atop garlic herb toast, the caprese is the perfect starter to a night on the beach. To truly taste the local flavors, though, you must try the seafood! We ordered a second appetizer: the house cured salmon bruschetta. Slices of cured salmon, goat cheese, avocado all topped with white balsamic vinaigrette -- this is a true delight. It went great with a cold glass of Chardonnay!

He ordered the house favorite and a must for seafood lovers -- the cioppino. It is a smor-gasbord of Dungeness crab, tender mussels, shrimp, scallops, and fresh fish in marinara broth. I went the more traditional route with the homemade lasagna. A rather large portion of meaty lasagna hit the spot. The rich, cheesy flavor, paired with the delicious house red wine, was just what I was looking for!

You cannot leave Ristorante Italiano without first trying the frozen baked potato! An enormous oblong scoop of cookies and cream is rolled in Ghirardelli cocoa powder, then topped with whipped cream, chocolate chips, and candied walnuts all floating in a bed of warm hot fudge!

We also tried the Chocolate Ganache cake which was rich and delightful. I would order this on a first date to look classy and sophisticated. Then later I would order the baked potato and really pig out!
