Definition Recruitment: is the process of attracting a field of

suitable candidates for vacant positions from both

inside and outside organization.

Selection: involves the series of steps by which the

candidates are screened for choosing the most suitable

persons for vacant posts.

Purpose of Recruitment & Selection

Create a talented pool of candidates for the firm

It choose the right candidate to fill the various position

Recruitment is a positive process because it encourage more people to apply

Selection is negative process because it involve rejection and unsuitable candidates

Recruitment basically concern with tapping the source of human resource

Selection is concerned with selecting the most suitable candidate through various interviews

There is no established contract in the recruitment process

Selection results in a contract of service between employer and employee

Procedures before Recruitment & Selection Process

It identify whether job vacancy really exists.

Job Analysis procedure: it is a process of collecting and analyzing

all information about the job.

Prepare the job description: it is a written statement explaining

the content of the job.

Notify the vacancy both internally and externally: organization

have the option of recruiting the both internally as well as

externally.

affected and governed by a mix of various internal and

the organization.
