COMMUNITY SERVICE:Our patrol staff spent some time at theChildrens Fall Festival at the Cloquet MiddleSchool. Students had the opportunity to talk with
officers and sit in a squad car. A nice card wassent to our staff by Joy Nelson from CloquetCommunity Education.
FACILITIES:We have continued to spruce up the building byapplying a new coat of stain to the fence at the
entry to our main desk. This should completeour exterior projects before the snow flies.
We have ordered our locker system that will beinstalled in the evidence intake area of the
building. Recently, in a meeting with ChiefBogenholm, Chief Ojibway and Sheriff Lake,we discussed the need for a standardized
computer program to track our evidence intakeand retention (also based on the L.E. study
recommendation). We have selected a productthat will likely work for all agencies and iscurrently being assessed by Sheriff Lake.
County Attorney Thom Pertler has generouslyagreed to provide funding for the project. Once
in place, the locker system and tracking softwarewill allow us to more effectively meet requiredstandards.
We now have our daily bulletin system up and
running. The bulletin is accessed by our staff ina shared electronic folder and displayed in a user
friendly PowerPoint format. This system is usedby our supervisors during officer briefings andprovides for a consistent and detailed flow of
information related to notable calls for service, wanted persons, blight and problem property
tracking. The information in the system isupdated daily and has already become a valuableinformation sharing tool.
