Homework

• Homework must be handed in the period it is due for FULL CREDIT.

• Homework can be handed in the next day for half credit. After the second day it will be considered a 0.

• The lowest homework grade will be dropped for each marking period.

• If you are absent it is your responsibility to get the work you missed.

25% of your grade

Class Participation

• Arrives to class on time. • Arrives to class with the proper class

materials (required materials listed below).

• Participates in whole class and small group discussions and activities.

• Puts forth a positive attitude and effort.• Interacts in a positive and productive

manner with classmates and teachers.

25% of your grade

Projects/Maps/Current Events

• A rubric for all assignments will be given prior to completing the work.

25% of your grade

Tests/Quizzes

• Tests and quizzes will be announced in advance. A surprise test or quiz will never be given.

• One notebook check per marking period will be performed and it will count as a quiz grade. A rubric will be distributed prior to the first check.

• If you are absent, you must make up the test or quiz within one week from the day that you return.

Extra Help• I will be available for

extra help before school and after school (except Mondays due to faculty meetings). I am more than happy to assist with homework, studying, organizational skills, projects, etc. in social studies and in any other subject.

Lockers• You cannot go to your locker

during class time.• All materials should be with you.

Group Crates• Under Ms. Rossi’s computer in

blue crates• crayons, colored pencils,

dictionary, scissors, glue sticks

Class Bins• On the back windowsill there are bins

for each class. • When told to hand in work, find the bin

that corresponds with your class period.• For example, if you have Social Studies

Period 2, look for the bin that says “Period 2”

Planner• Write all homework and

assignments in your Tenafly Middle School planner under the Social Studies column.

What to do when you get into class?

• There will be a message on the board or TV with directions on what you are supposed to do.

• Example: Write in your notebook 3 reasons why we study Social Studies in school.

On all of your work write your FULL NAME, Period

that you have Social Studies and the Date

Example: Allison Smith 9/5/08 Period 2
