  • Should I Take Honors Courses?

    Honors courses generally offer students:

    ▪ Greater emphasis on analysis

    ▪ Analytical skill development

    ▪ More reading and writing required

    ▪ You do not have to take ALL Honors classes,

    even if you would like to take AP classes in the

    future

  • English 9 Honors & World Civ 1 Honors Block

    ▪ Students receive one credit each for English 9 Honors and World History &

    Geography 1 Honors.

    ▪ Larger class of between 50-60 students.

    ▪ This class meets every day.

    ▪ Students examine relationships between literature and eras of world history from

    early ages to 1500 CE.

  • English 9 Honors & World Civ 1 Honors Block

    The English 9 HN & World Civ 1 HN

    Block is more advanced than the

    singleton World History/Geo 1 HN or

    English 9 HN courses.

    ▪ Curriculum for World Civ HN and World Hist/Geo

    1 HN are the same.

    ▪ All honors classes deepen and extend the

    curriculum.

    ▪ English 9 HN and World Hist/Geo 1 HN teachers

    work together to align literature selections with

    historical timeframe.

    boost in the English 9 HN & World

    Civ 1 HN Block class.

    ▪ All Honors class are weighted at a +0.5 GPA

    boost

    college exploration, study skills,
