Key Questions to Identify a CN50 Customer
Are the mobile workers “highly mobile”, carrying their computers for most of the day? Do they need constant Wide Area voice and data connectivity? Are they using multiple separate devices today and therefore looking to simplify and
save cost with a single full featured, multi-function device? Are they looking to improve productivity with the fastest tools and best available
technology? Do they deploy mobile solution with multiple different network service providers? Do they use any navigation software and have a desire to improve the efficiency and
accuracy? Do they value a “next generation” device that can grow with their business needs? Does their application have large data transfer or would they like the ability to add this
service? Are they doing any electronic document imaging today?

Slide 31 COMPANY CONFIDENTIAL
CN50 beats Motorola MC5574 Comparable size/weight Both have a camera and scanner Both targeted at ”high mobility” applications
CN50 wins because... Performance for current and future applications – The CN50 3.5G WAN radio has a significant speed advantage over the older,
now ”End-Of-Life” 2.5G EDGE radio in the MC5574.. A High speed processor, larger memory, and the capability for a 32 GB SD card means the CN50 can store more data and perform applications faster than MC5574. These features work together to provide a signficant improvment in productivity and allows the device to be used in future applications that are not practical with slower processors or a 2.5G radio.
Ruggedness. The CN50 has a 5’ drop compared with the 4’ drop of the MC5574. The Motorola device feels ”cheap” and the external antenna looks very susceptible to damage. Any customer that does a side by side will agree the CN50 is a more solid, high quality design.
Flexibility – The CN50 has a Software Defined Radio which can be programmed for either UMTS or CDMA. The MC5574 does not have a CDMA option and therefore it does not offer anything for Verizon, Sprint, Bell Mobility CDMA customers. The WAN radio in CN50 can be reprogrammed to change between UMTS and CDMA, allow customers flexibility to choose or change network providers.
More capability –The CN50 has a 3.1MP color camera and a flash, compared with MC5574 which has just 2MP and no flash. For customers that need to take pictures, the CN50 will provide significantly higher quality and better ease of use. This translates to improved productivity and better customer service.
Allows you to redefine work processes - Any customer that performs document imaging today or that may wish to expand their capability in the future will value the ability to have Enhanced Mobile Document Imaging on the CN50. This is a time-saver if they are doing this today and it’s a way to expand services that can grow their business
Improved Navigation and user experience – The integrated Digital Compass provides a navigation solution that is more reliable and more capable than just GPS alone. The compass can be combined with the camera to enhance image capture with timestamp, GPS location, and directional information. This will eliminate errors and save time. The built in accelerometer enables screen rotation which automatically keeps the display correctly oriented regardless of the positioning of the computer.
MC5574 will fight back with Lower Price. They’ll claim it’s ”good enough” and will sell it cheap to get customers to buy. Ask customers if they want to be stuck with
less productivity and no path for growth. To grow their business and stay competitive, customers need to choose the CN50.
Slide 32 COMPANY CONFIDENTIAL
CN50 beats Motorola MC75 Comparable ruggedness Both have a camera and scanner Both targeted at applications requiring ”full featured” devices
CN50 wins because... Better Ergonomics. The CN50 has a significantly smaller Size and Weight. The MC75 is 25% larger and 35% heavier and you simply
don’t need to have the carry a device that size to have features you need. The smaller, lighter CN50 will improve user acceptance, reduce fatigue, and improve productivity
Performance and flexibility - The CN50 3.5G WAN radio is ”next generation” beyond the MC75. CN50 has everything the MC75 has, plus it includes High Speed Uplink Data. This reduces time spent on data transfer and allows the device to be used in applications that are not practical at slower uplink speeds. The CN50 has a high speed processor, larger memory, and the capability for a 32 GB SD card which means the CN50 can store more data and will perform applications faster than MC75. This improves productivity and allows the device to be used in future applications The software defined radio allows the CN50 to be reprogrammed to be used on UMTS or CDMA networks. This provides flexibility to choose, change, upgrade along with your carrier.
More capabilities - The CN50 has a 3.1MP camera compared with MC75 which has just 2MP. For users that need to take pictures, the CN50 will provide significantly higher quality and better ease of use.
Ruggedness. The drop spec on the CN50 and the MC75 is the same (5 ft/ 1.5 m), however the external antenna on the Motorola device looks very susceptible to damage. Because the CN50 is smaller and lighter it’s easier to carry, hold, and protect against damage.
MC75 will fight back with VGA Display and 802.11a radio. A VGA display typically uses a lot of power, may require a larger battery, and will often require your
application to be rewritten to see any noticable changes. The 802.11a radio may provide some use in warehouse our retail, but has little value for ’field mobility’ applications.

Re-Provisioning
Our goal is to have a single hardware platform that can be reprogrammed to work across different UMTS or CDMA 3G networks.
We have not yet proven the hardware on CDMA, therefore we cannot guarantee that the early UMTS devices will be re-programmable to CDMA networks
Dedicated team developing the tool and process for CN50Proposal is to offer an “unlocked” configuration that can be easily
and inexpensively re-provisioned on any supported network. (Just the cost of reprogramming). This will cost a little more “up front”.
Single format 3G devices will be able to be re-provisioned, but he costs will be higher (~$200 each).

CN50 In the Real World 6 AM: Daily route and updated data base are downloaded to the CN50 with
Integrated 802.11
7 AM: Time to leave the parking lot for a new destination. GPS and Digital Compass give clear directions that guide you from the time you start the truck until you arrive at your location
8 AM: Boss calls on High Quality CN50 Cell Phone. Needs you to make a quick stop back at the shop
9 AM: Customer signs for receipt of goods on Integrated, Position Sensitive Touch Screen and receives a Printed Receipt from the Intermec BT Printer
10 AM: Damaged Package. Before accepting it, you take a High Quality Photo and send it through High Speed WAN back to the shop.
Final stop: Delivery has all been scanned with the CN50 2D Area Imager and the customer has validated the accuracy with a signed invoice. You capture the document with Intermec Mobile Document Imaging and send the electronic file back to the main office.
End of the day: The rugged CN50 worked perfectly and the long battery life lasted all day. You’re tired, but the small and light CN50 made the job a whole lot easier.

What is Enhanced Mobile Document Imaging (eMDI)?
eMDI enables the ability to capture full size documents in the field 81/2”x11” or A4
Primary components: CN50 with EA21 scan engine, decode software, license
Represented as a separate offering with its own launch kit on GSS Product Profile, FAQ, White Paper, Video User’s Manual, Intermec U Training Module
Primary markets and applications TNL (LTL, courier express package, postal carrier last mile delivery) Field Service (secondary)
Slide 45 COMPANY CONFIDENTIAL
eMDI Delivers Real ValueImproves cash flow for LTL carriers by reducing the time between delivery of shipments and invoicing the shipper
eMDI enables processing after each stop versus the end of the day or after leaving with a drop off service
Trip envelopes have to be processed before customers can be billed. Point & Capture user experience reduces variability in image quality between individual users
Laser framer (no more “estimating” with a view finder) Image enhancement that can’t be provided by using camera only
Keystone correction (perspective), brightness, flattening, contrast Works in indoor, outdoor and cab lighting conditions
Easy integration with existing mobile applications and popular document management systems
Compatible with major document management systems. Supports common document indexing schemes (doc #, PRO #, invoice #, date/time stamp, etc.) Creates images in native formats that are accepted by document management companies.
Use eMDI software “out of the box”. Integrates directly with existing mobile applications. APIs available to customize user experience.

eMDI Point & Capture User Experience
Easy-to-Use point & capture user experience reduces variability in image quality between individual users
Laser framer (no fiddling with viewfinder) Image correction
Keystone correction, brightening, flattening, contrast Up to 10 degrees of rotation, up to 35 degrees off of vertical
Image capture from ~1 foot above document Works in outdoor, indoor and cab lighting conditions Constraints
Full size documents should have good print contrast and captured only to Jpeg grayscale images with good lighting environments
Half size documents can be captured to TIFF monochrome images if they have good print contrast with good lighting.
This version does not support OCR or decoding embedded barcodes
