ADVANTAGES OF A BLOCK SCHOOL

● 8 Total Classes per Year● 4 Classes in the Fall/ 4 Classes in the Spring● Exceptions are year long classes: ROTC, AVID, IM1 with

Support, & AP Calc AB/BC● Student information system determines the order of classes● Students may request to “double up” on World Language and

Math (take 2 classes a year)● Students will get more academic electives over the course of

their 4 years on a block schedule

will be made to place you in your first 8 choices. If that’s not possible, you will be scheduled into your alternates.

Schedule Change Policy(no guarantee change will take place)

● During the first 10 days of Block 1 and Block 2, you may request a schedule change if

○ Student is missing a graduation requirement

○ Student is missing an A-G course for CSU/UC eligibility

○ Student is placed in the wrong level course (failed a prerequisite, passed a course in summer school or credit recovery)

○ Student’s fall and spring courses are not balanced

● Schedule changes will not be made for elective changes or for teacher requests

Advanced Placement (AP) and Honors Courses

● AP/Honors courses are open to all students. Review the Course Catalog for prerequisites and recommended courses.

● CRHS encourages our students to take challenging courses to enrich their high school experience, prepare for post-secondary options, and gain important skills that will translate into the workforce.

● Taking Honors and AP courses requires a high level of commitment and follow through that includes an emphasis on reading, writing, analysis, and application of new learning.

● The expectation of additional time and effort is part of the rigor of an Honors or AP course.
