WHY BOTHER?

SUBJECTS

• ANYTHING!

• Landscape – Sea, Land, City, Trees• Macro / Close-up• People• Wildlife (especially panning)• B&W• Portraits• Etc.

INTENTIONAL CAMERA MOVEMENT

TIPS

• EXPERIMENT!• Jpeg or RAW? Lots of trial and error.• Move the camera, the zoom, yourself…• Shutter speed – anything that’s not quick – 0.5-4 seconds great.• If it’s bright, try adding filters or reduce the aperture.• Vertical v Horizontal.• Rotational movements.• Tripod?• Image stabilisation? • Composition and exposure STILL important• Subjects: Trees, sunsets/sunrises, waves, city lights etc

ZOOM BURST

TIPS

• Zoom lens.• Shutter speed – 1-2 seconds.• Zoom in, zoom out or do both.• Subjects – trees, tube, City…• Combine with movement

PANNING

TIPS

• Experiment, experiment, experiment!• Move with the subject.• Watch exposure.• Shutter Speed (using narrower aperture and filters if needed)• Auto-focus

MULTIPLE EXPOSURE

TIPS

• In-camera or post.• Number of images – 3-300…• Moving between shots.• Adjusting exposure and focus between shots.• “Average” mode in Canon and use Live View (note Nikon issues)• Tripod?• Post-processing• Subjects: Trees, crowds, lampposts…

DOUBLE EXPOSURE

TIPS

• 2 shots.• Base shot with a dark silhouette. • “Additive” Mode in-camera. Select base shot.• Live View if possible.• Layer onto background image.
