JAMMU, Oct 24: Khour policeunder ‘Operation Meghdoot’arrest-ed a thief and recovered stolenitems from his possession.

As per police sources, onOctober 15 this year, a complaintwas lodged by Chander Shekhar,son of Thakur Dass of NikianMarchangi with Khour PoliceStation stating that some unknownperson had stolen his mobile phoneSamsung J-2 alongwith charger.

Acting over the complaint, acase under FIR Number 77/17 wasregistered at Police Station Khourand investigation started.

During the course of investiga-tion, several suspects were roundedup and out of them one of the sus-pects broke down and confessed

that he had committed the theft.Police arrested the thief, who

has been identified as Ganesh Raj,son of Harbans Lal of TibbaDhallan tehsil Khour.

During further questioning, thethief admitted his involvement inone more theft case registeredunder FIR Number 78/17 withPolice Station Khour.

On his disclosure, police recov-ered the stolen items including goldornaments, LED and mobilephone.

Further questioning of theaccused is going on to ascertain hisinvolvement in other theft cases.

Police team led by SHO KhourSI Jeet Singh made the arrest underthe supervision of SDPO AkhnoorMunish Anand and SP RuralShivdeep Singh.

JAMMU, Oct 24: The inau-guration ceremony of 8th batchpre-induction training of 313trainees of Jammu SectorBattalions of CRPF was heldtoday in a simple but impressivemanner.

The inauguration ceremonywas presided over by SLC Khup,DIGP Range Hiranagar-Cum-Supervisor ZTC, CRPF, Nagrotain the presence of other officers.The aim of this training is to pre-pare the newly inducted person-nel to handle the unique law andorder problems of J&K effective-

ly within the ambit of law. Special focus of the training is

to devise ways and means to dealwith militant attacks and offen-sive protest by unruly mobsthrough case studies, participativediscussion and experience shar-ing by experienced officers andprominent guest lecturers. Theessence of endeavour is to refreshtheir knowledge of minor tacticsand expertise on newly inductedequipments.

The programme was conduct-ed by Azar Mohd-A/C (A/CTraining) and vote of thanks waspresented by DK Jha 2I/C,Incharge, ZTC Nagrota.

A total of 80 girl studentsfrom J&K within the age groupof 12 to 20 are visiting Amritsar,Chandigarh and Delhi. Duringtheir tour they will visit places ofhistorical importance and otherplaces of interest in these states.

SRINAGAR, Oct 24: Contractagreement was signed betweenCEO Jhelum Tawi Flood RecoveryProject, Saurabh Bhagat and MDJKPCC Daleep Thussu for con-struction of two trussed girderbridges under the World Bankaided Rs 55.75 crore project.

The two bridges are to be con-structed by JKPCC in Shopian andPulwama districts. The 6x50 meterbridge at Trenz will be constructedover Ranbir Ara Nalla and willconnect Trenz Sheikhpora withArihal Shopian costing Rs 34.5crore. Another 3x50 meter bridgeon Rohmu Nalla will connectRohmu Pakherpora with mainPulwama costing Rs 21.25 crore.

The signing ceremony wasattended, among others, byDirector Finance JTFRP,Mohammed Yusuf Pandit, DirectorDisaster Management, Aamir Ali,General Manager JKPCC,Executive Engineer MunibulHassan Mirza, AEE Sajad AhmedWani and other officers fromJTFRP and JKPCC

Speaking on the occasion,Bhagat said that 8 bridges, 6 roadsand 3 buildings costing Rs 225

crore will be executed throughJKPCC. He said signing of theagreement was the first steptowards execution of the WorldBank Project in the State. The CEOsaid that after completion, the proj-ects will give major fillip to thereconstruction programme in theState. The Project ManagementUnit (PMU) has been invigoratedand a major selection process hasbeen initiated for equipping PMUwith high end consultancy anddepartmental staff, he said.

The CEO appreciated the hardwork of the Technical wing of theJTFRP which culminated in thesigning of the agreement withJKPCC. Stating that since theagreement was a templateapproved at the highest level,therefore other agreements wouldbe signed expeditiously, whichshall mark the immediate bookingof expenditure.

"International standards ofquality and environment normsshall be followed during the execu-tion of these projects and theEnvironmental and SocialManagement plans of these proj-ects have been hosted on theProject website of JTFRP," Bhagatsaid.

JAMMU, Oct 24: SehyogCharitable Trust has played asignificant role in the empower-ment of women by providingfree education to the unprivi-leged and needy children, espe-cially the girl child.

Speaking at the inauguralfunction of Sehyog CharitableTrust office in Jammu onTuesday, its founder, DanishMishra said, “Sehyog, as thename signifies believes in forg-

ing ahead and achieving theirgoals through constructive part-nerships and lending a helpinghand, as and when required tothe community. The focus of theTrust is not just limited to chil-dren but also extending a help-ing hand to needy women byproviding vocational skills.”

“The Trust works for all peo-ple in distress, irrespective ofany religions, regional or casteaffiliations,” Mishra said.

Pertinent to mention here, thatSehyog Charitable Trust wasestablished in March this yearunder the leadership of DanishMishra, a college student, with avision to help needy people andcreate environment of co-opera-tion for all.

Mishra said that the SehyogCharitable Trust is going to sol-emnize the mass marriages of101 poor girls in 2018. Whilesharing his views, Mishra said,“The basic concept of holdingthis mass wedding ceremony is

to help destitute and toensure marriages oftheir daughter in arespectable way.”

RAJOURI, Oct 24: Givingpractical shape to its commitmentof maintaining peace and order inRajouri, authorities have takensixteen persons into preventivecustody after their repeatedinvolvement came to fore in dif-ferent cases which primarilyinclude drugs peddling.

In a recent meeting of thePolice department, a threadbarediscussion was held on activitiesof all those notorious personswho are becoming a threat topeace. Help of intelligence agen-cies was also taken in shortlistingall such persons with main focuson notorious drug peddlers whonot only remain involved in drugspeddling but also triggeredunlawful activities many a times.

Later, different special teamswere framed by SSP Rajouri,Yougal Manhas and each teamwas led by an officer DySP HQrsJaswant Singh, DySP OPsSukhdev Singh, SHO RajouriAjay Chib, Insp Altaf Ahmed andIncharge Police Post Rajouri City,Danish Maqbool under the super-vision of Addl SP Mohd Yousafand during series of raids con-ducted in and around Rajouritown, sixteen such persons havebeen detained under orders ofExecutive Magistrate and takeninto preventive custody and havebeen lodged in District Jail,Rajouri in judicial custody.

Most of the people taken intopreventive custody wereindulging in drugs peddling andbecoming a major cause of worryfor whole society.

Police team also faced resist-ance while detaining many of

these persons but managed to nabthem.

The detainees included- IfrozBukhari alias Chotu Shah, son ofMunawar Shah, resident ofDhanore in Rajouri, at presentGujjar Mandi, Rajouri; RakeshKumar Hondia, son of MeshpalHondia from Malik Market,Rajouri; Mukash Kumar, son ofBodh Raj, resident of Talari,Kotranka at present Rajouri;Mohd Arif, son of Mohd Hussain,resident of Peer Kanju, Rajouri;Shahbaz Khan, son of MohdRaiz, from Chandimarh Poonchand at present ward No. 8,Rajouri; Shabir Ahmed, son ofMohd Bashir, resident of MalikMarket, Rajouri; Zaheer Abaas,son of Abdul Ghulam, residentof Behrote, Thanamandi, at pres-ent Ward No. 2 Rajouri town;Basit, son of Mohd Saleem hail-ing from Kakora, Manjakote, atpresent Umar Colony, Rajouri;Abid Hussain, son of MohdShabir, resident of Bela Colony,Rajouri; Ravi Kumar, son of RajKumar Sharma from Dhani Dhar,Rajouri; Tahir Shah, son ofNaseer Hussain Shah, resident ofDhani Dhar, Rajouri; RameezHussain, son of Mohd Bashirfrom Aitti, Rajouri; TanveerHussain, son of Abdul Majeed,resident of Thudi, Rajouri; AmitKumar, son of Yog Raj, residentof Ward No. 10 Rajouri; RishabhSharma, son of Surjeet Kumar,resident of Ward No. 10 Rajouriand Naseer Mahmood, son ofGhulam Mohd from Dassal,Rajouri.

It may be recalled that 30 per-sons were also detained in pre-ventive custody a couple ofmonths earlier in district Rajouri.

POONCH, Oct 24: The policeseized a Tata Mobile vehicleloaded with eight bovine animalson Mughal Road in Surankotearea early today and arrested itsdriver.

Official sources said thatPolice party from Behramgalladuring naka at Jogi Morh on theMughal Road intercepted a TataMobile vehicle No. JK12A/1129and found eight bovine animalsbeing smuggled to Kashmir viaMughal Road from Mendhar side.

The police seized the vehicleand rescued the cattle. The policealso arrested its driver- AjazAhmed, son of Liaqat Hussain,resident of Mendhar in Poonch. Acase FIR No. 238/ 2012 has beenregistered against the accused atPolice Station Surankote in thisconnection.

RAJOURI, Oct 24: TheExcise team from Rajouri todayorganised an operation anddestroyed illegal cultivation ofBhang on nearly 65 kanals ofState land at different locationsin Kandi-Budhal area.

The Excise team led by ETORajouri-Poonch Range, FarooqChoudhary, under the supervi-sion of DC Excise JammuMureed Hussain Shah andExcise Commissioner, MohdJaved Khan conduced operationat Budhal, Raj Nagar, Phalni,Targain, Samote, Mohra, Draj,Kotranka and Manore Galla areaand destroyed illegal Bhangcrop, cultivated by the locals ofthe area on State land. ExciseInspectors, Varun Chandan andMohd Parvez besides other staffof the Range were involved inthe entire operation. This opera-tion will be continued for somemore days in the area, the offi-cial spokesman said.
