Greetings,
In the middle of a pandemic where our routines have been disrupted, special events are not held or held in the same way, and we just do not see people with the same manner and frequency as we did before COVID-19, we can forget the good things going on around us. Even in this unique time, Dakota Hospital Foundation has been making good things happen and giving us a reason to celebrate. The DHF Innovation Committee recently reviewed six proposals submit-ted as part of the annual Employee Idea Challenge. Even during a busy, trying time, the employees of Sanford Vermillion are thinking of ways to enhance services to patients, visitors, and residents. Thanks to these employees for their submittals. Congratulations to Stacy Wuestewald for her submission, selected as the winner of this year’s competition. Implementation of her suggestion will better serve our patients with diabetic challenges for years to come. See inside for more information on all of the employee submittals.
While we have not yet been able to gather for ceremonies recognizing our high school and university graduates, DHF has recognized their work with the awarding of scholarships to six high school students to continue their education at a technical institute or university. New this year is a scholarship for students planning to attend a technical institute in a healthcare field. This scholarship has been funded by former board member Pat Wingen who passed away earlier this year and his wife Theresa. Thank you to the Wingen family for supporting this opportu-nity to help young people gain the training needed to start a career in the healthcare field.
Dakota Hospital Foundation is planning a couple of opportunities to safely gather. The Sheri Ellis golf tournament will again take place on Monday, July 20 at The Bluffs Golf Course. A few changes and adjust-ments have taken place to spread out the golfers at this time. Tee times are in place and there won’t be the traditional gathering in the club-house at the end of the tournament. It will be a great time and this will help raise funds for the many projects Dakota Hospital Foundation undertakes more specifically for the upgrade to 3D mammography at Sanford Vermillion Medical Center. Unfortunately, the Evening for Women which was to be held in March has now been cancelled for 2020 as well as the community celebration in August at the Vermillion High School. We hope to bring back both events in 2021. The annual leadership dinner which is typically held in late May is currently postponed. The Board is looking towards an event the first part of December if conditions permit. Please stay tuned for more information. While we look forward to having Dakota Hospital Foundation family together to celebrate, we need to do it in a safe manner when conditions permit.
As I close, I want to offer a message of gratitude.
Thank you for your support to Dakota Hospital Foundation. I hope that through a review of this news-letter you will once again see the good work that your investment in the foundation is making. Your support of Dakota Hospital Foundation helps enhance the great quality of medical care that we are fortunate to experience in this area. On behalf of Dakota Hospital Foundation, I want to recognize the employees, caregivers and providers in our hospital, clinic, care center, and assisted living. You are doing great work in a very challenging time.
Thank you for the difference you are making in the lives of those you care for and our community. It is greatly appreciated.
