• 22 cities including Aberdeen, Birmingham, Bradford, Brighton and Hove, Bristol, Cambridge, Cardiff, Coventry, Derby, Derry/Londonderry, Dublin, Edinburgh, Leeds, London, Manchester, Newcastle, Newport, Oxford, Perth, Portsmouth, Salford, York.

To enable businesses in Cardiff to access high speed connectivity thereby assisting to grow their

efficiency and the wider Cardiff Economy

Cardiff Connection Vouchers

Criteria• SMEs, Sole Traders, Social Enterprise, Charity, some

residential – at business or residential premises • £200 - £3,000 vouchers • 100% of Capital install costs• Technology neutral (FTTP, FTTC, leased line,

microwave)• 30mbps – 100mbps+ connectivity• VAT & Monthly contract costs excluded

Application Process• www.digitalcardiff.net• Check eligibility• Source 1 quotations from the list of pre qualified suppliers• Online application• Formal voucher offer = commission works• Submit payment claim • Voucher paid directly to Supplier• Applicant pays VAT & any ineligible costs

• Demonstrate the capability of high speed connections• Aimed at businesses / third sector• Cutting edge technologies to aid growth • Increase connection voucher take up• Longer term vision around digital education and

digital inclusion

Cardiff Street WiFi & 4G

• Contract won by BT• Access points on street furniture• Launched 14th November 2013– Phase 1 City Centre complete– Phase 2 Cardiff Bay Mid May

Bus WiFi

• Free wifi on buses• Uninterrupted service for passengers• Cardiff only routes• E-ticketing and GPS tracking• Wifi on bus shelters

Public Building WiFi

• Free wifi in public buildings where entry is free• Phase 1 council buildings• Phase 2 other public buildings • Currently compiling a list of buildings• Out to tender shortly

Internet Exchange

• New Internet Exchange with transatlantic link• Closest exchange is currently London• Reduce costs for end users• Increase competition amongst suppliers• Attract further inward investment• USP for Cardiff!

Why?

To establish Cardiff as the leading UK digital City outside of London, ultimately growing the

economy for the benefit of citizens
