Addressing Hate Crime through Art

BIEF is working with young people from Dunclug, Doury Road and Harryville areas to address Hate Crime through a series of workshops aimed at

Raising awareness and understanding of the impact of race hate crime

Raising awareness and understanding of the cultural identity of other communities

Each group will participate in 2 Hate Crime workshops which will input into artistic expressions of understanding and respect for diversity.

Artistic Expressions will be in the form of mosaic (Star-trek Youth Group) Clay (Waveney Youth group), Willow Sculpture ( Moat road) and DJ Skills ( Dunclug Youth Group & Dunclug Older Group).

The artists delivering the project as well as the facilitators of the Hate crime workshops are working closely together to get the best outcome for the project.

The artistic outputs will be celebrated by participants, their families and their communities at the end of the Project.

It is hoped this will change attitudes to hate crime and reduce anti-social behaviour and give the young people a positive experience and sense of ownership of their artworks.
