Understanding Content Types

The Tyndale website contains many types of content, such as pages, courses, departments, FAQs, events, persons, webforms etc.

Each one of these content types have been described inside of Drupal and will allow you to insert the pieces required for that specific type of content.EXAMPLES:

Note: “Group” = “Department”

URL = Universal Resource Locator

Creating URL* – no proceeding slash (/)ex. about/location

Linking to an Internal URL – start with slash (/)

ex. /about/location

ex. http://www.tyndale.ca/about/location

* Please note: some content types will auto-create URLs for you based on template and content type

Roles & Permissions

RolesGroups of users with specific privileges on the website. All Tyndale staff may have the role of “Authenticated User”. Additional Roles may be assigned as required:

• Library Manager

• Alumni Manager

• FAQ Manager

• HR Manager

Create/Edit/Delete rights:

Roles & Permissions

PermissionsEach Role is given specific permissions to accomplish tasks on the website. Roles may also be stacked to add extra permissions.

Example:Editor + Library Manager = All the rights of the Editor Role plus Create/Edit/Delete rights on Library content types (3)

You will be able to edit only the content you have created with few exceptions.†

† Permissions may be shared if page/webform exists inside of group. Groups are used to manage academic department and program sites as well as internal department sites where required
