2.04 Counterbalance A. Curtaintobecoiledonapipeofsufficientsizeto carrydoorloadwithdeflectionnottoexceed.033” perfootofdoorspanandtobecorrectlybalancedby helicalsprings,oiltemperedtorsiontype.Castiron barrelplugswillbeusedtoanchorspringstotension shaftandpipe.
2.05 Hood A. Hoodwillbeminimum24-gauge[galvanized] [stainlesssteel]sheetmetal,flangedattopfor attachmenttoheaderandflangedatbottomto providelongitudinalstiffness.Hoodwillenclosecurtain coilandcounterbalancemechanism.AllFMhoods willbefurnishedwithasteelhoodbaffle.
2.06 Finish A. Shopcoatofrustinhibitiveprimeronnon-galvanized surfacesandoperatingmechanisms.Guidesand bracketplateswillbecoatedwithaflatblackprime paint.Stainlesssteelfinishavailable.Curtaincolorwill be[white][blue][gray][beige][brown](white,blue, beige,brownonlyavailableas22gauge).Powder coatingisavailablein180colors.
2.07 Operation A. Doorwillbeoperatedbymeansof[chainhoistwith geardrivereduction][motoroperation][crank]. Optional[electrical][pneumatic]sensingedgetobe attachedtobottombarto[stop][stopandreverse] thedoorwhenitcontactsanobjectduringthe closingcycle.
2.08 Release Mechanism A. DoorswillbeequippedwithFireStarrelease mechanism,requiringonlyonecabletoberoutedto theoperatedside(cablenotrequiredtoberoutedto adjustingwheelside.)Doorswillclosebyathermally actuatedlinkratedat165degreesF,orbyanoptional listedreleasingdevice,orbymanuallyoperatingthe
releasehandle.Allspringtensionshallbemaintained whenthereleasemechanismisactivated.After closingbymanualoperationofreleasehandle,the doorshallbeabletoberesetbyonepersonfrom onesideofthedoor(re-engagingthereleasehandle).
2.09 Governor A. Ifrequiredbythesizeofthedoor,aviscousgovernor willbefurnishedtoregulatetherateofdescentofthe doorinaquietmanner.Itwillbetheengagement typewhichisnotengagedduringnormaldoor operation,butwhichaftercablerelease,willretard thespeedduringautomaticdoorclosuretounder2’ persecondandnotlessthan6”persecond.
2.10 Labels A. Rollingfiredoorswillbearthe¾(three-quarter) hour,11⁄2(oneandone-half)hour,or3(three)hour labelprovidedtheyare<=12’high,<=13’6”wide. Theywillbearanoversizetagiftheyareover12’high or13’6”wide.Rollingfiredoorswillbemanufactured instrictaccordancewiththerequirementsof UnderwritersLaboratories-listedproceduresor FactoryMutual-approvedprocedures,andwillbear theULorFMlabel(tag).FMlabelisavailableforthe 3-hourfiredooronly. 2.11 Locking A. [Chain-hoistdoorwillhavechainkeeperssuitablefor padlocksbyothers.][Electric-motoroperationdoors willlockthroughtheoperatorgearing.][Cylinder lockscanbeprovidedwiththedoors.] Note: Whenspecifyinglocksonelectric-motoroperated doors,electricinterlocksshouldalsobespecifiedto preventoperationwhenlockboltsareengagedinthe guides,thuspreventingdamagetothecurtain and/oroperator.
PART III – EXECUTION 3.01 Installation A. General: 1. Installtherollingfiredoorsinaccordancewith Wayne-DaltonCorp.instructionsandstandards andinaccordancewiththestandardsofthe NationalFireProtectionAssociationStandard80 (NFPA80).Installationandannualmaintenancewill onlybebyatraineddoorsystemstechnician. 2. Verifythatexistingconditionsarereadytoreceive rollingdoorwork. 3. Beginningofrollingdoorworkmeansacceptance ofexistingconditions. B. Fit,align,andadjustrollingdoorassembliesleveland plumbforsmoothoperation. C. Uponcompletionoffinalinstallation,lubricate,test andadjustdoorstooperateeasily,freefromwarp, twistordistortionandfittingforentireperimeter. Note: Architectmayconsiderprovidingaschedulewhen morethanonerollingdoororopeningtype isrequired.
3.02 Testing A. Rollingsteelfiredoorswillbedrop-testedin accordancewithNFPA80andwitnessed,attestingto theirsuccessfuloperationatthetimeofinstallation.
3.03 Maintenance A. PerNFPA80,paragraph15-24.3:Allhorizontalor verticalslidingandrollingfiredoorsshallbeinspected andtestedannuallytocheckforproperoperationand fullclosure.Resettingofthereleasemechanismshall bedoneinaccordancewiththemanufacturer’s instructions.Awrittenrecordshallbemaintainedby thebuildingownerandmadeavailabletotheauthority havingjurisdiction.
