We are delighted to invite delegates to the1st Gießen Symposium for InsectBiotechnology.

With more than one million cataloguedspecies, insects are the most successfulorganisms in terms of biodiversity. Theyhave evolved a diverse arsenal of activeingredients and enzymes to defendthemselves against pathogens andpredators, and to utilize challengingnutritional resources. Insect biotechnology,also known as yellow biotechnology, willmake this enormous range of naturalsubstances available to the bioeconomy.

The symposium has been organized by theLOEWE Centre for Insect Biotechnologyand Bioresources, and brings togetherscientists and professionals from insectbiotechnology and related disciplines toshare recent developments and research.We offer an interdisciplinary programmeallowing delegates to discuss recentinnovations, develop knowledge and skills,and build valuable connections with othersfrom around the world.

The 1st Gießen Symposium for InsectBiotechnology is free and open to thepublic, and will be held on 9-10 October2017 in Gießen.
