ITS : context and architecture
Cooperation of ad hoc VANET networks and cellular networks for V2V/V2I communications
Global architecture for the delivery of the POI
Example of ITS service : POI for multimodal platform
Conclusion and perspective
Orange Labs Networks – V2V/V2I and LTE cooperation
Agenda of the presentation
3 France Telecom Group confidential
New market opportunity: Connection to the internet everywhere on the road depending on radio coverage
and technology used, providing infotainment services for increasing passengers comfort.
Mobility and comfort services for drivers and passengers (ex POI for EV charging, multimodal Platform information, media downloading, ecologic drive, fleet management, M2M services…) more generally : Value Added Services
Intelligent Transport Systems: context
Orange Labs Networks – V2V/V2I and LTE cooperation
Primary public objective: reduction of car accidents, providing road
operators the possibility to warn drivers for route hazard or using communication systems for impact avoidance
Road safety services (ex stopped vehicle, wrong way driving, hard braking, speed limits)
Ecological purpose: transportation and traffic regulation optimized,
allowing reduction of petrol consumption and emissions of green house effect gases
Traffic management services (ex road information, in vehicle signage, traffic information and route/navigation guidance)
ITS : Intelligent Transport System is a new domain of Telecommunication field designed for vehicles and oriented in 3 different services corresponding to political objectives:
V2V
V2I

Global ITS architecture
Global ITS architecture for the delivery of cooperative services
Communication modes:
V2I /I2V communications between vehicles and infrastructure (HSPA, WiFi802.11n, ITS G5(802.11p), LTE)
• V2V communications (one and multi hop) between vehicles and RSU in 802.11p VANET ad hoc networks (geonetworking)
• Hybrid mode combining V2V+V2I communications : IPv6 over GN over ITS G5 and IPv4/v6 over 3G/LTE
