ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

• Secured commitment of $300,000 in funding for a study and plan to redevelop Cavile Place Apartments and improve housing in the surrounding Stop Six Area

• The Residences at Eastland town home development funded and opened in the District

• Supported funding for the renovation of Villa Supreme Apartments into Buttercup Place Apartments

• Began work on the Miller Avenue Redevelopment Plan• Began work with the cities of Forest Hill and

Kennedale on a Corridor Plan for Mansfi eld Highway• Returned control of land use back to neighborhoods

and restricted harmful uses in District 5 neighborhoods by completing council-initated rezoning on 2,802 acres and initiating zoning changes in 682 acres

• Secured Urban Village Zoning (MU1) on theStalcup/Berry Urban Village

• Secured approval for new-home construction in theStop Six and Polytechnic neighborhoods

IMPLEMENTING STREET ANDDRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS

• Secured funding commitment for East Rosedalereconstruction in the amount of $17 million

• Secured approval on the master thoroughfare plan for roadway on Lake Arlington, between Berry and Wilbarger, funded in 2008 bond program for$6.7 million

• Secured approval of grant for $392,000 forsidewalk and landscape improvement in the HandleyUrban Village.

• Continued monitoring Capital Improvement Programs and Critical Capital Needs projects in District 5

SUPPORTING CONSISTENTCODE ENFORCEMENT

• Special Code Sweeps to address stray animals• Conducted Code Forums with neighborhood groups• Conducted Code Sweeps through District 5

neighborhoods to address code issues

SUPPORTING STRONG FIREFIGHTING AND

PUBLIC SAFETY SERVICES

• Completed construction and opened Fire StationNo. 27 on Precinct Line Road at Trinity Blvd.

• Supported the continued funding of four-person fi re crews for increased effi ciency and played a major role in retaining lower insurance rates

SUPPORTING STRONG, RESPONSIVE LAW ENFORCEMENT AND

CRIME PREVENTION

• Conducted a successful Gun Buy Back program in the heart of the community

• Conducted Police Forums in the community to address crime and law enforcement issues
