Heavy rice bags are difficult to carry.

It’s hard to control the flow of the rice being poured into the storage container.

The package has to be cost effective, strong and sturdy, but environmentally friendly as possible.

The rice contents has to be protected from moisture and pests.

The rice bag has to be easily opened.

The material hessian was used for supporting the weight of the rice. It is strong, not too costly and 100%

bio-degradeable and compostable.

Two handles were made in the package to solve the dif-ficulty of carrying and pouring the rice.

To protect the rice from pests and moisture a plastic bag was attached within the the hessian material, this

can be torn out.

A string at the opening of the bag can be pulled, this undoes the stitching and opens the bag.

The orange-green and brown gives the impression that the product is en-vironmentaly friendly.

Less handles means that the package is simpler to make, it also reduces the size of the rice product.

The lid was also removed because it would be simpler to make and more affordable, easier to stack in supermarkets, more environmentally friendly, and the two handles by itself improves the rice flow control and ease of carrying the package.

Rice pouch was chosen because it easily communicates what the product is about.
