Greg & Beccy Kline’s Story (Membership # 91)
Our story began in 1993 when I bought my 1967 El Camino. By March of 1993 I had founded the El Camino Classic’s. In 1999 we purchased our beautiful black 1967 Chevelle SS (which by the way won Best Of Show Chevelle at the inaugural Oregon Club Show). We made many new friends in the Oregon club and enjoyed our times at the Oregon shows as well as the shows in Washington and BC. Beccy and I always enjoyed hav-ing everybody over to our house for the annual pre-show BBQ before the Classics show! In 2001 I traded my El Camino along with some cash for the 1937 Buick Street Rod which I nicknamed ELBUICK (at least it had all the running gear out of a ’68 Super Sport). I stepped down as President of the Classics in 2003 but was still members of the Oregon Club, Yesterdays and the BC Chevelle Club. Also in 2001 I became the State Rep in Washington/Oregon to the Buick Street Rod Association so I have always remained active in the car hobby! For several years we had both the Chevelle and the Buick sharing garage space. Well, in 2004 I made a deci-sion that I was tired of dealing with two collector cars and the associated time and expense so I decided to sell one of them. After much thought I decided that the Chevelle was the one to go. In the spring of ’04 I sold the Chevelle to a guy from the Bronyx, NY who turned out to be Funkmaster Flex of “Flexing Muscle” and ESPN “Rides” fame. The Chevelle has made the show circuit in with his stable of cars and was on the cover of Flex-ing Muscle. Now I am down to just the Buick but still having fun with that car and going to numerous shows.

Now to current times… For some time I had been really thinking I needed to get back into the Chevelle world. This past fall (2009) I decided to run an ad to sell the Buick but also in the ad I said “Or trade for equal value 1967 Chevelle SS”. I received a couple of calls but no real interest until right before Christmas. A guy called me from Siletz, OR (Depot Bay area) and said that he was interested in my car and although he didn’t have a ’67 Chevelle he had a ’65 that he would be willing to trade. At first I told him that I really wasn’t interested but he called me back and said he would be willing to put the Malibu in his trailer and drive it all the way up for me to look at! What the heck, I didn’t have anything to loose so I said sure. The day before my Christmas break here at work he called and said he was on his way up with the car and was really looking forward to seeing my Buick! I arrived at the meeting place and he had already unloaded the Malibu and as soon as I saw it I was hooked! I was so excited that I may actually be able to come back to being a Chevelle Guy… he looked at me and said, “Well, do ya wanna do this?” I said, “Do you want to drive my car or have any questions?” He then said, “Nope, you drove it up here right?” We ended up going title for title and he went home with the street rod and I a proud owner of a very nice ’65 Chevelle Malibu and a HUGE GRIN ON MY FACE! By the way, Beccy just shook her head when I pulled it into the garage!!!

Our 2010 CECCO Show is fast approaching. We have several cars pre-registered and show t-shirts sold. Remember last year we sold out of the shirts so I suggest getting yours soon. Sponsoring our Club and ACES Regional show is a big job for your show committee. As always, we need your HELP! Please help your club with this year’s show by soliciting trophy sponsors. If everyone managed to get just one $35 trophy sponsor we would reach our goal. So please accept this challenge and ask your local businesses: insurance agent, parts store, and auto repair or auto body shop . . .– you get the idea. Last year a member’s chiropractor sponsored several trophies!. Please obtain copies of general donation forms from the club website at www.chevelles.net/oregon under the 2010 show section or pick one up at our next meeting. It is important we have these receipts for our records. Remember we also need raffle items – the more the merrier! Raffle items do not have to be auto related so use your imagination. Personally a Dutch Bros. gift card thrills me. Don’t forget to plan time on Saturday or Sunday to volunteer your time for an hour or two. Your show committee is working hard and we would greatly appreciate your help. I thank you in advance! Cinamen Christman, Sponsor Chair
Just what you always wanted…. A spare bedroom full of Chevelle
parts!

I would like to thank Amber and Travis at Fast Specialties for putting my El Camino on their dyno at our meeting last Sunday. I had been hoping to get a chance at that for quite awhile. They both are very knowledgeable, and I hope to be able to take it back there and have Travis work his magic on the Holleys. Sounds like they need quite a few "tweaks", since the secondaries don't open. Also Travis said he could get another 5-6 MPG by getting everything tuned up properly, so the work should pay for itself in the long run. I would recommend them to anyone that would like to get the most out of their high-dollar investment. Tim Branson
