INTRODUCTION
We will introduce the usage of acrylic cement in this guide. This is a little tricky at first, but you willget a feel for it. Take your time to get good at this, as it will be more important in the future.
All of the acrylic pieces we use for OpenROV's structure and some of the other parts are clear. Thisis very hard to see in photographs so we've used a smoke-gray acrylic for the instructional.

Step 1 — Introduction
You will find the acrylic pieces youneed in both the 6mm and 3mm bagsof acrylic.
You may have some acrylic piecesthat have some debris from the lasercutting process in the holes. Theyshould come out easily pushingthem through.
Step 2
Before starting each section makesure to remove the paper backingfrom the pieces used only in thatsection.
A knife or your fingernails can beused to start removing the paperfrom a corner.
Use caution when using sharp tools.

Step 3
The cement is solvent based, meaning it is not sticky but as itcures it bonds like materials.
Before you start, watch this greatvideo on how to use acryliccement from TAP Plastics.
The best way to apply cement isto hold the syringe bottle upright(tip at the top) and squeeze out abunch of air, so when you turn thesyringe bottle upside-down (anddon't squeeze the bottle), air willburble inward and not allowcement to flow out. When you'reready to apply cement, lightlysqueeze the bottle to overcomethe vacuum pressure.
Only a little cement is required tomake a good bond. Use thecapillary effect to apply cement toa joint and have the cement workits own way into the space.
The acrylic cement does drip andshould be done over a surfacethat can get dirty. Paper towelswork well for this.
When working with acrylic cement itis recommended that you weargloves, safety glasses, and work ina ventilated area.
