Have you ever wondered how we come to see things? Well it’s light .The light source shines onto the object so that we can see it .If there was no light what so ever we couldn’t see anything.

Light travels in straight lines so if an object was behind something the light can’t get to it and we can’t see it.

Shadows Because light travels in straight lines shadows are formed

Shadows are formed when the sun shines on an object. The sun’s light can not pass through a solid object unless it is transparent like glass. There is still a little bit of a shadow though. Lets take the moon for example. When we see a crescent moon it is just a shadow of the earth going infront of the sun.

There are two different types of light source, artificial [that’s man made] and natural. An artificial light source is made by man like light bulbs. Natural light is like the sun.

But some things like the moon give off light and yet aren’t light sources. The moon reflects of light from the sun and so does water.
