Using Adobe Photoshop

How To Create A Front Page

Load up Photoshop.

Change the settings to A4 and add a title.

You should then have this.

Insert the image of your choice.

Insert another image of your choice.

Go into your layer styles and select “Overlay”.

You should then have this.

Now to create a vignette. Draw a rectangle with the lasso tool.

Invert the selection and create a new “Levels…” layer.

Adjust the sliders until you get the effect that you want.

Now onto the masthead. Using the text tool write your masthead.

Then insert the image that you want the text to show up in.

Make sure the image is covering the text.

Place your cursor in between the two layers whilst holding alt, click it to make the transformation.

Double click the text layer to bring up the effects menu.

Click on “Outer Glow” and adjust the spread and size of the glow until it suits your magazine style.

Change the settings in “Drop Shadow” until it suits your page.

It should look quite effective.

Now onto the “Image” box. Add a new layer.

Draw a box using the select tool.

Fill it with white.

Change the “Opacity” to something like 30%.

Then, using the text tool, write “Image” in black.

Whilst holding shift, select each letter and delete it off the layer with the white box. Then change the “Opacity” to 60%.

Repeat it for all the “Lure”, “Thumbnail”, “Barcode” etc. and you will have this.
