Finding a book on the shelf

Checking out a book

Insert your student ID in the machine and select the menu, then slide each book one by one at the bottom section.

You can take the book and your student ID to the counter or use auto lending machines (available at the Central and North libraries only).

How to use the machine:Student ID

Turn a face with barcode label up.

Slide the spine of the book at the bottom of the machine

Log-in with your ELMS ID&PW

Through your on-line library account you can:

(a) Check which books you have on loan(b) Extend a period of loan with one click(c) Reserve a book which is currently on loan

by somebody else(d) Set up a reminder to return books

Library Web Service : Extension

Click “Extension” button toextend the return due date.(2 more weeks from the day of click will be automatically added)

You can extend a book only if ✓ no other book is overdue; ✓ no one made a reservation of that book.✓ you didn’t reach the limit of the extensions for that book

Library Web Service : Notification of return due

You will automatically receive a notification 1 day after the return due date.

In the mail setting tab you can choose to receive an additional reminder, one day before the due date (so you will remember to extend your book before returning it)

You can borrow a book or a copy of a paper from another university

Getting Started with Mendeley

For using Mendeley , registration is required but it’s free.

Step1: Access http://www.mendeley.com and

[Create a free account]

Step2: Fill the form

Step3: Make a registration and[Continue to Mendeley>]

Step4: Fill in your profile information (institution, role, field of study and so on) then finish the registration.

Click “Sign in”if you have

already registered

Click “download” and install Mendeley software.

(Actually you can also use Mendeley in your browser, but it has less functions than software version, so I recommend you to install the software.)

plugin from the Toolsmenu of Mendeley Desktop.

In the Word, Mendeley plugin will appear in the “References” tab.

Than search an article and select it.

A citation is inserted.

Function 3: Inserting a bibliography

After inserting the citation mark, set cursor on a references part of the paper then click “Insert Bibliography”

Bibliography is generated automatically based on the citations you used in the text!(it is renewed every time you insert a new citation mark)

Function 4: Choose a style or set up your own stylesClick “Style” to change the citation format.If you need another style, choose “More Styles…”

Select “Get More Styles” tab and you can search for new styles.If a style does not exist, you can modify existing style by right-click on the style. (However, since the editing process is a little complicated, it may be a good idea to choose a similar style for modification)
