• Whyitisimportanttoplaceadditionalmaterialontoaglassslab(ortile),andshapethemodelbasetoapproximately2X2by1-inchthick.

• Afterthe2X2by1-inchsecondpourismade,howtoinverttheimpressionontothenewmix.Donotpushtheimpressionintothebase.

• Afterinvertingthetray,howtoholditsteadyanduseaspatulatosmooththeplasterbasemixupontothemarginsoftheinitialpour.Becarefulnottocovertheimpressiontraywithmaterial.

• Post-opbleedingisnormal.Ifanyheavybleedingispresent,foldthegauzeandplaceitdirectlyonthebleedingarea.Maintainpressurebybitingfor20minutes.Thegauzemaybesubstitutedbyawetteabag.Theacidsintheteahaveaclottingeffect.

• Swellinganddiscolorationistobeexpectedincertainareas,usuallyreachingitsmaximum,twodaysaftersurgery.Itwilldisappeargraduallyandisnocauseforconcern.Ifdesired,icepacksmaybeappliedforthefirst24hoursonly.Alternate20minuteson/20minutesoff.

• Sutures–ifrequiredareremovedwithoutdiscomfortinabout5days.
