Comdev has been offered as a web-based Master course at Malmö University since 2000. From the outset, the concept was a rethinking of communication and development in the light of globalization, conducted through a combination of seminars and individual assessments and finally implemented in a Project Work, preferably although not necessarily in a developing country.
Communication for Development
When the program started for the third year, in August 2002, a group of 15 international students were enrolled and English became the official language of instruction. Since then the number of international students has constantly increased. Over the last two years, the majority of participants have been of non-Scandinavian origin.

ExaminationAssessment is made through a combination of group work and individual assignments. The individual assignments vary from traditional examination of the course literature to essays and academic papers. The final Project Work corresponds to the Master Thesis.K3 intends to bridge the gap between artistic and academic presentations. We welcome creative work as part of the assignments and we see form and content as intrinsically connected. However, artistic submissions must still meet the academic requirements, either integrated into work itself (essay, documentary etc.) or as a separate reflection upon applied theories and methods and chosen form.
Communication for Development
Project WorkThe project work is the final examination of the masters program. It includes planning, implementation, and analysis of a study in the field(s) of media, globalization, and international development cooperation. The work can be linked to an existing development aid project of which media and communication form an integral part.
