CARNIVAL
Last Friday Night was a
wonderful ISPS community
event that was very well
attended. Thanks to
everyone who helped
organise the event and
run the stalls on the
evening. There are
photos of the evening
further on in the
newsletter.
END OF 2013 and START of 2014
The end of Term 4 is coming closer. The school
year ends on Friday 20th of December at 2:15pm. All students are expected to attend
school until this date. In the final week of school
a number of activities are planned to celebrate
the hard work that has been done throughout
the year.
The Grade 6 Graduation presentation is one of
these. On Monday 16th December the whole
school will get together to celebrate the
achievements and successes of many of our
students. All families are invited to attend, have
dinner and celebrate a fantastic year of
learning completed by all of our students.
School resumes in 2014 on Thursday 30th
January, for students. Teachers commence on
Tuesday 28th January and will be involved in
professional learning on this day and on
Wednesday 29th January. All students will commence on Thursday 30th January.
REPORTS
Student reports are being written at the
moment. These will be distributed on Thursday
19th December. All students will receive a hard
copy of their report which will include their
academic level of achievement, their level of
achievement in relation to our core values,
teacher and student reflections and comments
and an overview of the specialist programs that
the students have participated in. The Ultranet
will also provide comments about your child’s
ongoing learning and a copy of their academic
level of achievement.
2013 FAMILY CELEBRATION DINNER
On Monday 16th December the whole school
will get together to celebrate the achievements
and successes of many of our students. This will
include the Grade 6 Graduation, Award
Presentations and Formal Announcements of
2014 School and House Captains. All families are
invited to attend, have dinner and celebrate a
fantastic year of learning completed by all of
our students.

Yesterday the Grade 6 House and School
Captains attended a Multicultural Day at
Irymple Secondary College They were involved

WALK TO SCHOOL DAY AND BREAKFAST
TOMORROW is ‘Walk to School Day’. Walk to School day aims to promote the health benefits of
walking, safe pedestrian behaviour, reduce car dependency and reduce air pollution caused by
cars.
We will be meeting at the Irymple Post Office at 8am to walk to school. All parents, grandparents
and other family members are welcome to join us on the walk to school. We can transport you
back to the Post Office if needed!
After the walk we will be providing the students with a free healthy breakfast of fruit, toast and
cereal.

y R.I. Christmas Break-Up
All children who participate in Religious Instruction
are invited to the Christmas Break-up on Monday,
December 9th at 12.30pm in the Multi-Purpose
Room. Parents and grandparents are most
welcome to attend. Could all students attending
please bring a plate to share for lunch and drinks will be
provided.
ACTIVE AFTER-SCHOOL COMMUNITIES
The students who are participating in the cricketing sessions are really enjoying
themselves and their skills are developing. They have participated in activities and
games that are improving their batting, bowling and fielding.
There is only one session remaining and this will be held at the Irymple Swimming
Pool on Wednesday 4th December. The students will be transported to the pool by
bus, but will need to be collected from the Irymple pool at 4.30pm.

organised by the Irymple Secondary Alpine
Leaders.
PREP TRANSITION
Yesterday, in rather hot conditions, 51 new Preps
for 2014 came to school for their second
transition day. The children had a great time
counting, making number placemats, using the
iPads and going outside and participating in
some throwing and
catching activities. They will
be coming back again
next Wednesday to work
with Mrs Rowland and Miss
Piscioneri.
CHOIR
Our carollers will be
performing at the
Irymple Carols by
Candlelight on Sunday
night. They did an
outstanding job at the
Carnival last Friday night.
The Carols are being held at Henshilwood Oval,
Irymple commencing at 5.25pm. Our choir will
be performing at 5.45pm and it would be
wonderful if you could support them by
attending the Carols by Candlelight.
DRESS UP DAY
Next Tuesday 3rd December we will be holding
a Dress Up day and Fun Lunch. Students are
invited to dress up as their favourite book, movie
or TV character. There will be a parade at
9:00am in the assembly area. After recess the
students will be participating in a variety of fun
activities and games. There will be a BBQ lunch.
Order forms for the lunch went home yesterday.
Please return your order by Monday 2nd
December.
T20 BLAST REGIONAL FINALS
On Tuesday 26th November our boys team
competed in the Regional Final in Swan Hill. We
made it to the Grand Final but were beaten by
Cohuna. Well done to Liam Dinnage, Josh
Stanley, Jake Talbot, Vinnie Petrolo, Lachie
Kellett, Bobby Mogford, Billy Phelan and
Anthony Cua. Thanks to Mr Smith for
accompanying the boys to Swan Hill and the
parents who supported the boys.

Irymple South PS Carnival
What a fantastic night we had! There were lots of activities to keep everyone
entertained and busy, plenty of wonderful food to eat, stalls to visit, carols to
listen to and the amazing Christmas Tree lighting! Santa visited on the Fire truck
and was extremely popular.
Thankyou to the following families for their kind donations to the Fruit and Vegie
Store– Smart Family (Sophie, Maddy & Cooper), Aldamiz Family (Samuel),

ART EXHIBITION
Our Art Exhibition was opened last Friday night at
the Christmas Carnival. All students have a
number of items on display. There are paintings,
salt dough sculptures, drawings, collages and
3D creations. All the Mildura Show entries and
the winning Water Week Poster entries are
also on display. The Exhibition will be open tomorrow morning,
so come along and take a look at all the wonderful artwork that
the ISPS artists have created after walking to school!

2013 End of Year Family celebration

You are invited to our end of year celebrations!
On Monday 16th December, at 6:00pm, we
will be celebrating the end of the 2013
school year.

Bring your own picnic dinner or purchase dinner
from the Enjoy Wine Catering stall. Soft drinks and
water will be available for purchase. Bring your own
chairs and or picnic rugs.
All members of the school community are invited to

LIBRARY BOOKS
Please start hunting under
beds and in bookcases for
misplaced Library Books and
take home books. We have many
books missing and we would
appreciate books being returned as
soon as possible. We will be
beginning our stocktake shortly.
In Environmental Science this week both Prep
classes collected nature treasures (leaves, flowers,
weeds, seed pods etc) from the school yard to
make a nature picture. Grade 2/3C
students started to design a simple
board game about how to Reduce,
Reuse and Recycle rubbish. Both
the 4/5 classes have been investigating the
difference between Threatened, Endangered and
Extinct animals.

Last Thursday, Grade One went on our excursion. We went to Coles and got to go into the back to see how our food is stored and moved around. We got given a doughnut, a Twiggy meat stick and a special prize at the end of the trip! Next we went to Woodsies Gem Shop. We had a talk about all the different gems and got to go into the caves. Then we went into the maze and we all got totally lost, even our teachers! After that we went to Jaycee Park for lunch and we played on the playground equipment. Finally we came back to school to play games, have a disco and eat a yummy dinner of pizza and chips. We had a great time!
