When sinister forces conspire to bring about a reign of mild discomfort and disruption, the world must

call on a hero who scoffs in the face of… everything. Jackrabbit is that hero. Bounding headlong into

grossly overestimated danger, Jackrabbit goes toe-to-toe against self-proclaimed menaces and deranged

urban vigilantes, proving there is no threat that can’t be snickered at.

THE SECRET ORIGIN OF

AND THE 8 FINGERS OF MISCHIEF.

One of the original

drawings of Jackrabbit. You

can see the similar details that carried

over.

As told by Boe DuRansier

jackrabbit-01.indd 87jackrabbit-01.indd 87 10/26/2009 8:35:41 PM10/26/2009 8:35:41 PM

Jackrabbit was created almost completely by accident back in 1990. This was when I was still entertaining the idea of becoming a comic book artist.I was drawing a picture of The Punisher and my girlfriend at the time looked over my shoulder and asked, “Who’s the guy with the bunny on his chest?”

The character sat around gathering dust until 1998. C and Iboth worked for the same bookstore and talked about doinga comic together, me writing and him drawing, and I pulled

Jackrabbit out of mothballs. But... things happen the way theyhappen and we never did get much work done on the book.

jackrabbit-01.indd 88jackrabbit-01.indd 88 10/26/2009 8:35:43 PM10/26/2009 8:35:43 PM

Cut to a decade later - C and I caught back up with each other and took another stab at Jackrabbit. As you can see, we fi nally

managed to make it happen.

jackrabbit-01.indd 89jackrabbit-01.indd 89 10/26/2009 8:35:47 PM10/26/2009 8:35:47 PM

Never trust a guy with two fi rst names. Especially if they are both girl names. Not hard to guess who this is a parody of. The two things that I have always loved about Silver Age Double L are

that he basically turned “evil” because he went bald (which I can assure you happens to anyone under those circumstances), and

that his claims of “criminal genius” are never questioned because he surrounds himself with morons and lunatics (which I assure you also works like a charm).

CARY TRACY

What super villain group would becomplete without the obligatoryfemme fatal? It’s like an unwrittenrule in comic books, every roguesgallery must have at least on femalecharacter whose sole power seems tobe the amazing ability to not be a guy.

THE STONE FOX

VIC 20 and MISTER BINGO

Robots are cool.

Talking monkeys are cool.

Monkeys who talk to robots...does it get any cooler than that?

jackrabbit-01.indd 93jackrabbit-01.indd 93 10/26/2009 8:36:02 PM10/26/2009 8:36:02 PM

THE LIMERICKER

Do I even have to say who this is based on? Even as a little kid, I couldn’t help but wonder why a

group of super criminals would offer membership to a guy whose only power is the ability to tell his arch enemy the exact details of every

fi endish scheme he plans to commit.

RUEBEN “KNUCKLES” SAMMICH

He’s big. What else is there to say?

jackrabbit-01.indd 94jackrabbit-01.indd 94 10/26/2009 8:36:06 PM10/26/2009 8:36:06 PM

THE ICE CREAM MAN

Every self respecting rogues gallery has to have a cold-based super villain. I’m not sure why that is, some kind of unwritten rule or something. The Ice Cream Man is ours... and he’s only slightly less useless than any of the others of his ilk.

THE BLACK SNORKLER

Honestly, this is probably my favorite member of The Eight Fingers of Mischief. The idea of superheroes dedicated to fi ghting underwater crime is hilarious...

...but not nearly as funny as a villain dedicated to committing underwater crime.

jackrabbit-01.indd 95jackrabbit-01.indd 95 10/26/2009 8:36:10 PM10/26/2009 8:36:10 PM

THE PENALIZER

One of my few parody ideas that also serves as something of a political statement. I found it ironic that one of the major publishing companies decided to ban smokers from their comics, because they didn’t want to set a bad impression on young readers, but didn’t see a problem with keeping cold blooded and violent killers around.

Boe DuRansier is a writer, artist, musician, and occasionally an actor… you know, a bum. He recently published his second novel, “Hard Times in Pleasant Valley” as well as a collection of socio-political commentary

called, “A Message from the Action Man”. Boe has penned several titles for Committed Comics. Along with Jackrabbit, you can expect to see his name on upcoming books like; Freak Meter, The Cavalry, The Big Suck, and Thrill

Ride. He resides in Seattle, Washington.

C Wilson Trull found his love in comics way back when a certain weather controlling mutant shaved her head and gave herself a mohawk. He picked up a pencil and never looked back. His most recent works include writing and penciling several online comics, including Gaming Guardians and The

Vial, under the name The Webtroll. Now he locked in a basement, chained to a desk working feverishly on the

next issue. Really REALLY wanting a Twinkie.
