DESCRIPTION

Assignment 9-4

TRANSCRIPT

Goal: To impart the knowledge that it is possible to get off of cigarettes without truly having to quit the act of smoking.

Audience: All smokers.

Message: E-cigarettes are an alternative to cigarettes which allow the smoker to get away from cigarettes without giving up nicotine or the act of smoking. The function and feeling of using an e-cig are the same.

My first design follows.

The next slide came about while working on proximity and alignment. I let go of justifying the text in favor of left-aligning it, but I hadn’t let go of centering the titles.

I was mainly going for proximity with the photos and titles, and then with the subtitle and text. I introduced a new picture of e-cig devices to go with the text, this picture remained through my final design. Lastly, I attempted to have a left-alignment with the subtitle, text, and one of the top photos.

The next slide was for the first contrast assignment. By this time I had dropped two of the photos, and for this design I cut the woman out of the third photo. I realize I did a horrible job at this, and the vapor she’s exhaling looks ridiculous, but it would take a long time to do it right, time I don’t have. So please forgive that. It was also at this point that I separated some of the text into a bulleted list, which helps the flow of information (I think). I also made the last line of text a separate subtitle.

The next slide was for the color assignment. This one uses the same layout as the last, but with different fonts and a split-complement triad color scheme. I also introduced bold lines, one under the photo and the other at the bottom, so that I could make the background all one color. This also lends to a sense of repetition.

Next up is the last slide, my final design. I took my color scheme from the picture of the e-cig devices, and used size contrast in the title. I was careful to make the small words fit horizontally over the larger words below them. I also bolded the bulleted list, to provide a little “color.” Finally, I made an effort to clean up the alignment with every element of the design.
