Asia's biggest
and most
popular regatta.

1987 to
celebrate the
60th birthday of
His Majesty the
King of Thailand,
the event has
been held every
year since then
during the first
week of
December.
With Royal Patronage, the
Regatta is organised by
the Phuket King's Cup

Committee under the
auspices of the Royal
Varuna Yacht Club, in
conjunction with the
Yacht Racing Association
of Thailand, the Royal
Thai Navy and the
Province of Phuket.
THE REGATTA
The 55 ft. Cassidy
designed ocean racer,
“Australian Maid” will be
our racing boat for this
year’s King’s Cup.
Commonly known as
“Aussie Maid”, she has
tackled races from
Sydney to Hobart, to
Cowes Week in the UK
and Antigua Raceweek in
the Caribbean, spanning
a 35 year racing career.
Some of her best results
have come in the Asian
Regattas, winning
numerous Darwin to
Ambon Races and at
least once, the Raja
Muda, Kings Cup, Rolex
China Sea Race and
Singapore Straits races.

Phuket and its surrounding
islands comprise one of the
most spectacular sailing
grounds in the region, with
beautiful beaches, crystal
clear waters and stunning
geography. Lying in the
Andaman Sea, Phuket is
Thailand's premier island
destination and the
country's wealthiest
province outside Bangkok.
Phuket's warm
winter climate is
one reason that a
few million tourists
visit Phuket each
year. The northeast
monsoon wind blows
from November to
April bringing with it
clear, sunny skies
