body of a solid-state capacitor comprising anodizing to form a first dielectric coating having a generally uniform thickness through the anode body; impregnating the anode body having the first coating with a liquid material forming a barrier to anod- ization; causing increments of the liquid material to be removed from selected areas of the first coating, thereafter subjecting the impregnated anode body to a second anodizing step thereby to form a second dielectric coating on the selected areas while the portions of the first coating in contact with the liquid material are main- tained free from the second coating and thereafter driving off the remainder of the liquid.

Lead Frame and Method for Manufacturing Same U.S. Patent 5,643,433. July 1, 1997 K. Fukase eta/., assignors to Shinko Electric Industries Co. Ltd., Nagano, Japan

A method for manufacturing a lead frame on a major surface of a matrix com- prising forming a resist pattern on the ma- jor surface of the matrix, the resist pattern having therein a connection cavity connect- ing tip ends of a plurality of inner lead cavities; forming an electrodeposition pat- tern in the connection cavity such that tip ends of inner leads, formed in the inner lead cavities, are connected by a connect- ing piece formed in the connection cavity; and separating the electrodeposition pattern from the cavities of the said resist and matrix while the tip ends of the inner leads are connected by the connecting piece.

Process for Coating Aluminum Alloys U.S. Patent 5,643,434. July 1, 1997 M. Benma/ek and M. Santarini, assignors to Aluminum Pechiney, Courbevoie, France

A process for coating the surface of an aluminum or aluminum alloy part compris- ing electrochemically activating the surface by bringing the part to anodic polarity in a bath comprising a halogenated acid salt of nickel; superactivating the surface by chemical treatment; and bringing the part to cathodic polarity in a nickel plating bath comprising solid particles, and electrolyti- cally depositing a nickel layer containing solid particles on the surface of the part.

• Use Novalyte 370 - a neutral pH electrode system. This product had been approved by a major aerospace manufacturer and is production-proven for many years or..

• Use Novalyte 390 - an acidic cadmium sulfate electrode system, This product, too has been production-proved, produces a bright ductile deposit.

• Use Novalyte ZNI - a non-cadmium, non-cyanide, zinc-nickel alloy plating system - with a pH factor of 6.2+ 0.2, zinc-nickel alloy (12-18% nickel content). This product produces bright and ductile deposits out of solution.
