OUR OPENING PRAYER WILL BE GIVEN BY

• If we have time, we will be playing a game at the end of class.

• You will need to listen carefully to the lesson so you will know the answers to the questions in the game.

I Think When I Read That Sweet Story

1. I think when I read that sweet story of old,

When Jesus was here among men,

How he called little children like lambs to his fold;

I should like to have been with him then.

2. I wish that his hands had been placed on my head,

That his arms had been thrown around me,

That I might have seen his kind look when he said,

"Let the little ones come unto me." Words: Jemima Luke, 1813-1906

Music: Leah Ashton Lloyd, 1894-1965

Have you ever imagined how

wonderful it would be to have Jesus Christ put his arms around you or put his hands

on their heads.

The story we are about to hear comes from the Bible.

The disciples were afraid that the children would interrupt and disturb Jesus while he was teaching.

But the Savior wanted the children to come near him. Let‘s hear the story from Mark 10:13-16 about Jesus and the

In this scripture suffer means to allow or let.

So when the scriptures say “Suffer the little children”, what it is really saying is “Let the Little children . . .”

What did Jesus do when the

children came to him?

In Mark 10:16 We Read:

16 And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.

Remember a couple of weeks ago, in Lesson 17, we learned about the priest hood and about the

blessings our fathers or other priesthood holders give us are similar to those that Jesus

would give us.

Why did Jesus want the children to come

to him?

Why did Jesus want the children to come to him?

Because he loved them and wanted to bless them.

Even though he was busy teaching the adults, Jesus took time to hold and bless the little

children because of his great love for them.

I want you to know that Jesus loves you.

He loves all children

They are precious in his sight

Jesus loves the little children, and big ones, and tall ones, and all children of the world.

How do you think the children felt when Jesus blessed them and prayed for them?

How do you feel when you think about Jesus?

Although Jesus Christ is not here in person now, he loves us just as much as

he loved the children who were alive when he was on the earth.

How do we know Jesus loves us?

He created the earth for us; he gave us commandments to live by;

he gave his life for us; he directs the Church

speaks to us through his prophets; he set a good example for us.

Under Heavenly Father’s direction, Jesus Christ created the earth and all the plants

and animals on it.

• Name a favorite animal or plant. • When you see your favorite animal or

plant that Jesus created, it should remind you that Jesus loves you.

Do you think these children are happy that Jesus loves them?

Are you happy that Jesus loves you?

Even though Jesus Christ is not on the earth, we can show him that we are thankful for his love for us and that we love him.

One way we can show Jesus that we love him is by keeping his commandments.

• Let’s read Matthew 25:40 to learn about another way we can show Jesus we love him.

• 40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

• In the scripture “King” is another name for Jesus Christ.

• In this scripture the Savior is telling us that if we are kind to other people, it is like being kind to him.

• When we treat others kindly, we show Jesus that we love him.
