Director's Message
World over, the view is gaining ground that businesses have
not only to be profitable but also socially responsible.
Increasing emphasis is being laid on corporate participation
in addressing social issues such as, for example, illiteracy, ill-
health and lack of education. Against this background, the
view has been expressed in several quarters that the goal of
contemporary management education should be to shape
managers who are not only professional but also sensitive to
societal demands. Such a qualitative change, it is
1
increasingly being felt, is a must if managers are to become agents of inclusive growth. The Madhusudan
Institute of Cooperative Management, Bhubaneswar (MICM) is re-inventing itself with the aim of becoming a
unique management institute that will re-equip the Indian manager with the concepts, tools and techniques
necessary tor functioning effectively in this new scenario.
MICM that we are seeking to build will be:
Ø An Institute of choice for bright young boys and girls, providing top-notch management education in
not only the traditional areas of management but also in several emerging areas that are related to
finding market-based solutions for social issues.
Ø An Institute of choice for recruiters seeking young managers who can grapple with the creative tension
between people and profits in innovative ways.
Ø An Institute where members of the faculty are not just disseminators of received knowledge but active
knowledge generators and integrators.
Ø An Institute which places a premium on continuous innovation in course delivery using the latest
learning technologies.
Ø An Institute where students receive a fair return on their investment.
Ø An Institute that practicing managers turn to for keeping abreast of cutting-edge developments in
management thought.
We are initiating action and expect to make considerable progress on all the above fronts in the near future. It is
our earnest wish that we get a fillip to our above efforts by way of campus recruitment from Corporates.
