Knowledge is Power
So welcome to lore 101. Below is a brief description of why we use lores and how to interpret them. If you
have questions feel free to as! your storyteller. "ores are not the end all and be all of a character#s
!nowledge rather a lore rating is a general way of describing the level of understanding a character has
about a certain sub$ect. %his is helpful because of the e&tremely vast and confusing body of !nowledgethat#s contained within the 'hite 'olf boo!s. "ores are purchased at secondary s!ill costs.
Why Use Lores?
(irst of all you might as! yourself why do we even use lores) 'hat#s the point) 'hy can#t I $ust !eep whatI learn in*game in*game) 'ell the easy answer is that you can. It#s perfectly o!ay +if somewhat ris!y, for
you to create a starting ghoul or vampire character with no !nowledge of what he or she is what the -urse
of -aine is all about and what the -amarilla or even the asquerade is and learn everything in game.
/owever not everyone wants to begin play with a clueless neonate vampire or ghoul. Sometimes fol!s
decide they want to ma!e a vampire with a few years or decades of e&perience under their belt an ncillae
or even an lder. n lder without !nowledge of the asquerade would not last long so it ma!e sense that
you should have a way to have that !nowledge coming in.
How do Lores apply to my character?
So how do you apply the use of "ore to this problem) "et#s use Bru$ah -lan "ore as an e&le. If I#m a
good role*player and I want to ma!e a well rounded Bru$ah I#ll probably go pic! up the Bru$ah clanboo!
and read up on the sub$ect before creating a character. Problem is the Bru$ah clanboo! covers everything
from %roile#s diablerie of the clan founder to the role of the Bru$ah gangs in the modern nights and there#sreally no reason for my character to arrive newly embraced in the world of dar!ness !nowing all of that
stuff. So what should my character reasonably !now) /ow do you separate the stuff you can#t get by
without !nowing from the !nowledge that seems li!e you#re metagaming) "ores are the answer to this
conundrum for you and for your storytellers. %hey help you set reasonable guidelines for your characters
!nowledge and leave room to grow.
In general "ore ratings brea! down li!e the following2
"ore 12 'hat a newbie3ghoul3freshly embraced !indred would !now.
"ore 42 'hat a student3neonate would !now.
"ore 52 'hat a professional3ancilla would !now.
"ore 62 'hat a scholar3elder would !now.
"ore 72 'hat a master3methuselah would !now.
What's the deal with Insider Lores vs. Outsider Lores?
'hat#s the difference between a "upine "ore and 8arou "ore) "upine lore is the !ind of information
someone that is not a "upine li!e a mortal or vampire can learn about werewolves while 8arou "ore is
what a 'erewolf can learn about themselves. %his follows with 9ampire lore vs. Kindred lore and 8host
"ore vs. 'raith lore. (or e&le a 9ampire can learn Kindred "ore and "upine lore but not 8arou lore
and 9ampire "ore would be pretty useless to them. Below the lores are bro!en down into what is insider or
outsider lore for a Kindred.
9ampire "ore +n outsiders 9iew, Not necessary for Vampire players, but may be taken by mortals, ghouls or other supernaturals.

>oddist "ore +Insider,You are a Scholar of ancient Noddist Lore and mythic History of the Cainite race, from Prehistory to the
odern times. Note that becoming a Noddist scholar could re!uire e"tensi#e research and possibly
kno$ledge of %rcheology, %nthropology, History, Linguistics, &ead Languages and the 'ccult. (ithout
these and other necessary skills, the road to kno$ledge about the elusi#e te"t $ill be e"ceptionally difficult.
od Lore 1 What the idly curious would %now
Eou !now that the -ainite creation legend is penned in a te&t !nown as M%he Boo! of >od<.
Supposedly written in prehistoric times the te&t tells the story of -aine murdering ble and 8odcasting him out to the "and of >od as a 9ampire the first of that !ind.
Eou !now that the te&t is held in reverence by some Kindred and seen as a $o!e by others.
Eou certainly don<t own one and accounts about it#s contents vary widely.
od Lore ! What the )tudied would %now
Eou !now that the MBoo! of >od< has many variations throughout time and in recent years so
many copies of variable reliability have cropped up which finding the Moriginal< is impossible.
Eou have heard from a reasonably reliable source the general contents of the te&t and !now the
tales of -aines e&pulsion from the first urder.
Eou also have heard that in some versions the boo! also contains notes at it<s end from the
(ounders of the -lans to their -hildren.
od Lore What the 5ili&ent 6esearcher would discover
(rom further studies you can name many other academics of the sub$ect.
Eou have observed more than one copy of the boo! and have compared the te&ts.
Eou !now for certain that parts of the commonly !nown MBoo! of >od< have had to have been
written at some later date than proclaimed by the boo!.
Eou can see now the glaring Mpatches< in the boo! and !now that almost every copy in e&istence
must therefore be false in some way. nd yet you believe that somewhere there must be a realcopy from these fa!es to have been spawned from.
Eou have researched the boo!<s historical origins and !now various claims of origin for the boo!
from Scandinavia to Israel but none with any authenticity.
Eou have begun to hear whispers of cults of vampires who venerate the words of the Boo! of >od.
od Lore ( What a oted )cholar would suspect
Eour studies into the MBoo! of >od< are comprehensive spanning historical spiritual and
philosophical aspects of its history.
Eou own what you believe to be a reasonably complete copy and have studied many more.
7/27/2019 Lore Guide
http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/lore-guide 10/65
Eou have researched its words and although you !now many cannot have come from the time of
>od some have an alarming degree of truth to them.
Eou have in particular noticed the alarming signs of 8ehenna approaching rapidly as described
by the Boo!.
Eou !now that an accompanying boo! e&ists the MBoo! of "ilith< a supposed te&t regarding
"ilith -aine<s mentor and her fall from 8race. Eou hear rumor that this boo! contains muchinformation omitted from the MBoo! of >od<.
Eou also !now that -ults e&ist following both the MBoo! of >od< and the MBoo! of "ilith<
believing =ealously in their teachings.
Eou have most li!ely come into contact with one or more of these cults and may even have been
as!ed to $oin one.
Eou<ve learned of the e&istence of a collection of tales and prophecies called M%he rciyes
(ragments<. pparently this boo! e&ists as the forerunner to both M%he Boo! of >od< and M%he
Boo! of "ilith<. It seems to be the original boo! predating both. But you cannot find this sacred
te&t.
Eou have laid your hands on at least one authentic page from the #real# boo! without !nowing it.
Since that time you have felt an indescribable foreboding overhanging your research.
Eou have a tendency to become distant to your allies and associates fearing that they may tell
someone of your research.
Eou !now that the MBoo! of >od< contains only a snippet of information available within this
tome apparently the information allowed to pass down to >eonates from lders to try and !eep
control on how much information is available to them.
Eou believe that lder or even older Kindred have altered many copies of the te&t to try to
disseminate their philosophy amongst younger Kindred. Eou suspect that agents of some of these
elders may now be !eeping tabs on you and paying close attention to your wor!.
od Lore * What a 4aster Li#rarian is a$raid o$
Eou have a comprehensive !nowledge of the MBoo! of >od<. So much so that you discount much
of it<s teachings as bias or pure fiction. By now you can pic! up almost every false word and halftruth within the MBoo! of >od< and there are many. So many that the lines blur many times over.
Eou by now own many copies of the te&t and have seen many more. ach different each as
verifiable as the ne&t.
Eou have studied the -ults surrounding both te&ts and have discovered some alarming
similarities. nd confirmed the e&istence of a further te&t the original MBoo! of >od<.
Eou have also researched into its history and have come to the conclusion that the original is
probably iddle astern in origin but you cannot be too certain.
Eou have noticed many of the Signs of 8ehenna mentioned in the te&t and begin to ta!e them at
face value often finding it difficult to stop yourself from e&pressing incredulity when others
profess not to see the obvious end of all things.
Eour dreams contain endless cascades of falls words and lying letters in a multitude of dead
languages falling in upon you or vague and terrifying flashes of the stories in the boo! of >od
coming to pass and you awa!e feeling as if someone has been watching you.
7/27/2019 Lore Guide
http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/lore-guide 11/65
Eou believe that one or more of the ncient Kindred mentioned in the Prophecies of 8ehenna are
!eeping a control on how much information is distributed. Eou sometimes believe you can feel
their presence watching you. Eou have suffered many threats from the agents of lders to
discontinue your research and upon refusal have most li!ely suffered worse.
any of your close associates and allies may have also as!ed you to stop your research out of
worry for your safety and sanity thus confirming your suspicions that they are being controlled by
forces set out to destroy your research. Indeed to spare them the horrors of the coming
apocalypse you consider that it may be better to end their suffering now especially if they too are
involved in researching the boo!.
Eou !now how and where to lay your hands on many different copies of the MBoo! of >od< and a
few copies of the #Boo! of "ilith<. Eou have compared and contrasted both boo!s and believe that
you can now pic! up almost every similarity to the point where you believe that you can have a
fair guess at what M%he rciyes (ragments< contain. Eou have even lain your hands on a few of the
fabled (ragments.
Eou believe you have !nowledge of the true words of -aine. Eou !now of his words to the (irst of
his -hilder. Eou !now of "ilith and of the murder of ble. Eou believe you !now of the true
words of 8od and -aine#s visions of the future.
Eou !now of the certainty of the coming of 8ehenna. Eou !now of all of it<s coming<s signs and!now for certain that the nd %imes have begun. Eou have possibly contributed to at least one
copy of the MBoo! of >od< in circulation and !now many many scholars of it<s content.
Society is based on or guided by >oddist scriptures. So much so that you believe certain -lans or
even the -amarilla itself has been founded on such teachings. Eou may even be a part of one of
these cults.

-ae Lore 1 =hose with >ust a hint that somethin& is $unny is &oin& on that science doesn+t e/plain
Stories of faeries and faerie magic are based on something real and mysterious in the world that
might not e&ist today. N(airy stories and accounts of faerie magic are creative attempts to e&plain
real phenomena that we still don<t have the ability to quantitatively e&plain or that we can<t detect
because they do not occur in the modern era.O
;reams really do have magical qualities and power. N;reams are not simply random neural
impulses with no consequences beyond the human mind they do have some une&plained
e&ternal effects on the physical world. %his sort of energy is not well*understood by current
science.O
(aeries of some !ind really do e&ist but they<re invisible: NBased on certain documented patterns
in physical anomalies it is probable that some sort of physical laws govern @faerie magic@. %hese
anomalies may alternatively be directed by conscious thought of beings we can<t detect with our
current scientific measurement methods or even by as*yet unclassified energies correlated with
the physiology of human thought.O

(aeries are especially fond of children and untamed wilderness settings. N%he anomalies !nown
by many as @fairie magic@ are documented mostly in the presence of children and3or rural areas.
%his is li!ely a function of cultural tendencies in rural areas to attribute unquantified phenomena
to supernatural forces as per superstitions. It is also li!ely that factors related to child psychology
and social development contribute to deliberate hoa&es by childrenJ furthermore parents< natural
wishes to protect their children from harm or to avoid blame for neglect of their children li!ely
motivate them to corroborate such supernatural accounts in order to avoid legal or social
retribution.O
%here are fewer faeries around today because most people no longer believe in them and that
wea!ens their power. N@(aerie@ encounter claims are mar!edly reduced in number in the modern

(aeries and human dreams go hand*in hand they affect one another. (aeries !now our dreams

N@(airy@ manifestations frequently are described in terms of human dreams. %he phenomenon

"i!e some faerie fol!lore says one actually can resist faerie magic by convincing themselves that
it has no real power against them. It<s not as simple as not clapping your hands but it does seem
to drive off faerie creatures. -old Iron but not wrought or cast iron seems to be the most
effective ward there is against the fae. NIndividuals encountering a Mfaerie@ anomaly can minimi=e

creatures for good or for ill. Nll so*called @faerie@ phenomena seem to e&hibit patterns
interpreted by many as analogous to e&treme emotions or arbitrary disorder. %his is li!ely tied to
the mental states of people who claim to have had @faerie@ encounters and most certainly has to

they have committed acts against their will or quite deviant from their normal habits. ven manyof those who suffer memory loss from such encounters have been witnessed performing such

elders completely control the -lan. It is through their lineages and their childer that a firm
;irectorate is formed. %he power of an elder is given by pro&y to his childer and theirs to theirchilder down the chain. %he ;irectorate varies in it#s control of 9entrue some being the absolute
tool of the ;irectorate and others being from lines that e&ercise light control and are almost free of
it entirely.
Eou !now what is e&pected of you2 ?egardless of the unique personality and methods of each
individual 9entrue there are a few things the -lan as a whole e&pect every released 9entrue to beable to do. Below is a list that is universally e&pected of everyone in the -lan.

Eou understand that the careful adherence to manners in public is something that every 9entrue
loo!s for in others of their -lan. Should someone act rudely in any way publicly they will at least
hear about it in passing in private from others of the -lan. It is born from the nature of the beast
and the control of the situation that the 9entrue find dear. >o matter the circumstance 9entrue
strive to maintain an e&ceptionally polite demeanor. %he moment the leaders of the -ainite race
begin to devolve into bic!ering and rude behavior the less noble -ainites are sure to erupt into
total chaos. Some say the 9entrue rule by their polite demeanors and by not giving others $ustification for e&ploding into fren=ied destruction.
Eou understand the ethic of -ontrol2 %he circumstances that many 9entrue find themselves placed
in requires a clear head and a crisp wit. %he 9entrue !now that once control is lost in a situation it
is almost impossible to regain that control. >o matter the situation the masses will remain only as
calm as their leader. 'hen a situation devolves the 9entrue are e&pected without hesitation or
prompting to be the picture of serenity. >othing is as unforgivable as a 9entrue who brea!s downunder fire.
Eou have heard of %he "egends2 Eou have heard whisper the names of the legendary 9entrue in
our chronicle. Eou have heard the myths and rumors that surround their aura of mystery.
Eou !now how to discern the 9alue of a 9entrue2 Eou are familiar with the system of ;ignitias and
understand the supreme importance of acting and behaving according to those concepts of worth.
Ventrue Lore What an up and comin& "ncillae would %now
/his le#el of Ventrue lore is usually ac!uired after a Ventrue makes a transition from Neonate to %ncilla.
/he building blocks of years of formal training and the e"perience of li#ing the life of a Ventrue neonate

understanding imparting their o$n bits and pieces of kno$ledge for anyone $ho has yet to li#e it to beindoctrinated into this circle of kno$ledge.
Eou !now the lineages of most of the 9entrue in your line. If you are ;ubois and someone spouts
off a fa!e ;ubois lineage you will nine times out of ten have them dead to rights +at least you can
freely question them deeper with I- $ustification,. /ave your storyteller consult you on the P-#s
lineage you are questioning if you have any questions. Eou have a greater understanding of the ;irectorate2 'hile at first it appears that the ;irectorate is
a childe3sire relationship it turns out to be much more than that. It is a very subtle method of
control that the elders utili=e to both empower the young and to e&tract their due at the same time.
'hile the most direct control still appears to be in the form of sire3childe relationship you are
aware of others outside your own line seem to have certain pull into your own lines affairs. Eou
have heard of instances where an lder answers to an ncilla in a matter of business concern.
Eou !now about the realms of control2 %he mortal realm of control is something very important to
both the 9entrue and to the -amarilla. 'ith his level of !nowledge you understand the more
advanced forms of your own chosen field of business. 9entrue lore at this level is $ustification for
an ability speciali=ation in (inance Streetwise Bureaucracy or another ability that coincides with
your business interest.
Eou !now of the usticar of the -amarilla2 %he 9entrue usticar is "ucinde and she holdsdominion over ustralia and the ast. She is of the seventh generation childe of ntonius arcus
(lavius childe of %hemis childe of ercurius childe of 9eddartha childe of noch childe of
-aine.
Eou have a more intense understanding of the history of your bloodline
Eou !now of the other routes of Power2 'hile the directorate holds a direct route of power for
most 9entrue you !now now that other organi=ations e&ist within the clan that both serve needed
roles and offer power in as different form than others. 'hile even as an unreleased childe you

have heard mention of these societies you now understand at least the fundamentals of what these
societies are about. Eou can feel free to contact the heads of any ma$or society and as! an S%
AA- for basic information about them.
Eou !now of the one to watch over the floc!2 Eou !now that the mechanics behind the choosing of
the -lanhead are comple& and political to the e&treme. %he -lanhead derives his powers from
those who support him. /e can be the right hand of the ;irectorate or he can be nothing more
than a front man to spea! for the -lan to the others of the -amarilla.
Eou are aware of all the a$or /ouses in the 9entrue -lan2 Eou are well versed in the e&istence
and basic understanding of perhaps the greatest bac!bone of the 9entrue -lan. %he a$or /ouses
are the fuel that fires the -lan and you can consider all of the information located at to be readily
available to your character.
Eou !now the %ies that Bind2 Eou understand that beyond your own bloodline and associates
there e&ist a myriad group of /ouses that control to a lesser or greater degree those who claim
membership within them. Eour own e&perience at this level gives you the history behind your own
/ouse and the rules that govern it.
Eou !now the lders who ?ule2 t this level of 9entrue lore you !now the names of most of the
lders in play. If confronted by a 9entrue claiming to be an lder and who is forthcoming with
their lineage you can determine to some e&tent the truth of their claim. %his is by no means aguarantee that you are correct in your assumption but will allow the more !nown and recogni=ed
lder players to give you a lore verification of their lder status. 'hat you !now or have heard
about the lder is up to the player of the lder and you should always consult first with them and
!eep a log of your !nowledge.
%hose who stand alone2 'hile in your primary 9entrue education you learned that the -lan and
the Blood is sacrosanct you have seen evidence now that some stand outside the traditions. 'hile
still 9entrue and far from being considered -aitiff there are those of the 9entrue who wal!
outside the rules and boundaries set by the -lan. Some call them tavist those who forsa!e the
traditions of the clan to be left alone to wander for all times. If one declares themselves to be
tavist they are still !ings but do not owe fealty nor gain benefit from the clans actions. (ew
would begrudge any 9entrue who turned down a favor to the tavist and seldom are they called
upon for favors.
Ventrue Lore ( What an lder would %now

Eou !now the lineages of most of the 9entrue in the bloodlines of ;ubois Khumenes ;overspi!e

where the glass ceiling comes into play as few if any ancilla ever reach the ran!s of Stragetgoi.
Eou !now of the (our /orsemen2 %he /orsemen are a mysterious coterie of 9entrue lders and
ncients whose true purpose has always remain veiled behind lethally guarded secrecy. %hey hold
Sigils from the %hirteen but refuse to discuss their mission e&cept in the most vague way and
there are indications that the @true mission@ may vary on the /orseman as!ed. 'hat has been
gathered publicly is that the titles of the /orsemen are pulled from the ?evelations passage in theBible and reference has been made that they @watch over the -lan@ globally whereas a -lanhead
might $ust focus nationally. %he areas they focus on seem to be specific in nature as well...a
/orseman may observe lder 9entrue Princes rise and fall without lifting a finger and theninterpose themselves brutally when a >eonate Prince is diableri=ed even though the power lost to
the -lan is minimal. ;ar!er rumors e&ist as well that the /orsemen purge the -lan of failed
elements regardless of ran! or position though they rarely comment on such rumors. ?egardless
of their true goals the /orsemen have always been -ainites of e&ceptional power and influence
capable of impacting entire countries with their manipulations. %he names of current and previous
/orsemen read as a whose who of powerful 9entrue2 Stellus uan Uavier onroy ;on ulian
achiavelli -ornelius ?iga 9ladimir ?omonav. %he methods of initiation and entrance into the
coterie li!e their activities is clouded in mystery and only !nown to the /orsemen themselveswho guard membership very $ealously. %hese are the most powerful of the "ictors some say to

Eou !now of the %hirteen2 Eou have heard of them in the past. %hey are the phorate the Senior
Board of ;irectors. %hey are the final and most powerful level of authority in the -lan.
Eou !now the reasons behind the bloodlines2 %here have been quiet comments by others of the
peerage that there was a distinct purpose for the embrace of each of the 15 ethuselahs of the
-lan. 'hat this purpose could be is beyond your !nowledge but you are starting to wonder how
far up the ladder are the puppet masters.
Eou !now the /ouses and Societies2 Eou are well versed in the wor!ings of /ouses andSocieties. Eou can recogni=e all the /ouses in the clan as well as all the ma$or societies and
several minor ones.
Ventrue Lore * What an lder )cholar ,nows
/his le#el of understanding and kno$ledge only comes to true Ventrue $ho ha#e li#ed for hundreds, if not
thousands, of years. %n Alder doesn2t automatically kno$ these things, this kno$ledge is found only by
those $ho dig. (ith this le#el of Ventrue Lore, you should become increasingly paranoid of the others of
your Clan, as you start to piece together $hat your purpose and destiny is. ost of $hat you $ere taught
$as only half truths, and you doubt that you $ill e#er kno$ the $hole truth. /hose outside the clan should

information to those not of the Ventrue.
Eou are sure of "ineages. >one are secret from you you can recount the lineages from memory
or from records you posses. It is laughable to present you with a false lineage only those who
have ta!en the identity of a real 9entrue should consider trying to fool you.
Eou understand the %hirteen bloodlines each to rule2 %he creation of the thirteen bloodlines was
to ensure governance for the other unruly bloodlines. %his is the piece of !nowledge that
generates more paranoia than any other. %hirteen means that one was made to rule over the
