• Grade 9 (6 IBT Credits)

-Business and/or Tech, English, French, Geography, Math, Science

• Grade 10 (7 IBT Credits)

-Business and/or Tech, Careers/Civics, English, French, History, Math, Science

• Grade 11/12 (4 IBT Credits)

-Select Grade 11 and 12 courses with a focus on business and/or technology

The Portfolio

• Four successful portfolio reviews

• Students meet with teachers for the review

• Portfolio describes leadership activities, best examples of academic work, and more

• Useful practice for college, university and/or employment applications and interviews.

Exit Interview

• Graduating IBT students meet with teachers to review accomplishments in program

• Ensure all program and graduation requirements have been met

• Reflect on IBT experience and discuss future plans

• Two questions

• Affords students an opportunity to share their non-academic achievements

• Content, spelling, grammar, full sentences, proof-reading, etc. are all important

Step 3: Application Fee

• Application process begins October 28, 2015

• Application process ends November 20, 2015

• Payment of $40 application fee due by November 20

• Payment of the $40 fee is completed online at the time the application is submitted via the secure payment website www.school-day.com

• Submit hard copy of IEP (if applicable)

• Submit hard copy of Gr. 7/8 report card if a non-Peel middle school student

Step 4: Achievement Data

• Peel District School Board elementary students did not receive term two report cards during the 2014-15 school year. As a result, the board will revise the admissions process for Regional Learning Choices Programs that begin in September 2016. No student will be disadvantaged because he or she does not have a term two report card. 

• Term one report cards will be accepted for all Peel students, and for students who do not have a formal report card or summary of marks. Students from school boards that issued term two report cards or summaries of marks in writing will submit these.

Selection Process• Meadowvale’s IBT Program has 109 spaces

Academic: 3 classes x 29 students in each class = 87 students

Applied: 1 class x 22 students in each class = 22 students

• Our admission decisions are based on:

• Marks and learning skills from Grade 7 term 1 report (if final report not available) or Grade 7 final report – must meet or exceed provincial standard

• Indicators and learning skills from Grade 8 progress report (if available) – must meet or exceed provincial standard

• Successful lottery selection

Key Dates

Application deadline: Nov. 20, 2015 

Offers will be emailed to successful applicants on Feb. 8, 2016.

• Students will receive all program offers on this day.

• If students apply to multiple programs, they may receive more

than one offer.

• If students do not receive an offer on this day, it doesn’t mean

they will not be provided a spot in a program. They may get into a program during the next round of offers.

 

Offers 

Offers must be accepted by no later than Feb. 12, 2016.

 • If students do not accept spots in a program by Feb.

12, the spots will be offered to other students on Feb. 16.

• Once students make program decisions, they cannot change their minds and accept spots in different

regional programs. • This means the program you accept an offer from by

Feb. 12 is the program you will attend in September 2016.

Regional program schools will send second round offers on Feb. 16, 2016.

Offer Acceptance

• To accept an offer, you will need to reply by the deadline. You will need to reply to the offer email you receive.

• When you confirm program participation, you will be asked to pay your program fees. The IBT Program fee is $200.

• Students will only be officially admitted into the program once program fees are received.

• Fees will be paid for online using a third-party service provider. If you don’t have a credit card or bank card, fees can be paid in-person with a cheque made payable to the school.

Placement

•All students will be placed in regional programs by Feb. 19, 2016.

•Students will know what regional program they will be enrolled in for September 2016 by the end of February.

Laptop Requirements

• Will be posted to Meadowvale website after admission decisions sent out. ( May 2016)

• Specs are modest -- Mac or Windows OK.
