What do you think of when you hear these three words:

Men - Gender Equality

A question for all Gender Equality is a developmental issue

concerning all of us If gender equality is regarded as a women only

issue development will be slow Men and boys are affected by gender issues as

well as women and girls

Men and boys – important target groups and actors in the field of gender equality and health

Relatively new field, but emerging! Many examples of projects that successfully

engage men and boys in the work for gender equality

The field is expanding and for example UN, EU and the Swedish government supports initiatives aiming at men and boys.

Men for Gender Equality Our vision: A gender equal society without

violence Civil society organisation funded by Save the

Children Sweden in 1993. Professional as well as volontary projects and

programmes. 18 programme staff and 500 individual members.

Promotes gender equality and prevents violence based on knowledge on how social masculinity norms influences human and society.

Financed by public and private grants and consultancy fees (education, courses).

Men and parenting

Men for Gender Equality wants action to develop men´s care and works for parental leave policies

Long time sustainable action for legislation to protect women from Gender Based Violence

Reformed and individual parental leave, as well as actions targeted to individuals, groups and society as a whole.

Studies in Sweden and Norway:Actions aimed at supporting fathers (at an early stage) to develop relations to their children leads to:o Increased gender equality within relationso Lower divorce rateo The development of men´s social competences and
