Definition of insoluble salt. Methods of preparing insoluble salts. The experiment about insoluble salts.Summary.
DEFINITION OF INSOLUBLE SALTS
Insoluble salt is salt that not dissolves in water at temperature.
A Precipitate is an insoluble solid that forms when 2 or more soluble reactants are combined.

Common precipitates:
Figure 1.3 Precipitation of lead chromate Figure 1.4 Precipitation of silver chloride
Figure 1.5 Precipitation of group II sulfides Figure 1.6 Formation of Cu2+ ion
Figure 1.7 Formation of Ni2+ complex Figure 1.8 Formation of MnO4- ion
Methods of preparing insoluble salts
Mix the two solutions –a precipitate will form. Filter the mixture. Rinse the solid with distilled water and allow to dry.
The experiment about insoluble salts
BaCl2 Na2SO4Ba2+
Cl-Na+
SO42-
NaCl
BaSO4
The reaction
BaCl2(aq) + Na2SO4(aq) 2NaCl(aq) + BaSO4(s)
The ionic equation
