By 6 years old everyone around me knew there was something different as I did not watch cartoons, I watched every cooking show on television. Among my favorites were Rachel Ray, Emeril, Paula Dean and Barefoot Contessa. I took notes and tried a few recipes here and there.

I could always be found with flour on my apron and a smile on my face!

At 10, a local meal assembly facility took my idea to create a “JR Chef night” and I worked alongside the owner in assisting JR Chefs and parents assemble meals.

I had the pleasure of meeting Angus Campbell at a local expo and he took time out of his day to encourage my passion in the culinary arts.

He invited me to be a JR chef for the day at the college and to assist sous chefs in meal preparation for the Heritage restaurant for the college. His passion was contagious and his perfectionism was appreciated!

It’s funny what 20 minutes can do to build your self esteem and confirm that there are good people out there willing to step out of their worlds to enter yours!

Meeting Duff was a huge highlight for me as I greatly admire the artistry that is created in combination with the phenomenal taste that people expect.

He was as wonderful as others said he was in person. Generous with his time and appreciated beyond explanation. Nice to see others care about upcoming passions for the craft!

My goal is to be one of the best in the industry, a strong woman leader and role model to the next generations wanting to pursue culinary careers.
