Todorov’s Theory
Todorov stated that every narrative consists of 5 stages:
1. A state of equilibrium (everything as it should be)2. A disruption of that order by an event3. A recognition that the disorder has occurred4. An attempt to repair the damage of the
disruption5. A return or restoration of a new equilibrium

2. A spaceship arrives on Earth and Eve checks the planet for life

4. Eve tells the captain of the ship they can go back to Earth, but a robot tries to stop them. Wall – e, Eve and the captain manage to defeat him

5.They find Nemo and live happily again
4. Marvin meets Dory and together they look for Nemo
3. Marvin (Nemo’s dad) realises Nemo is missing
2. Nemo is captured after being dared to touch a boat

5. He falls in love with the princess and they live happily
4. He rescues the princess
3. Shrek meets Donkey and together they got to lord Farquad. He says Shrek must rescue a princess if he wants his land back
2. All fairy tale creatures are sent to Shrek's swamp

Over the Hedge
5. RJ tricks the bear and exterminator to have a fight and then lives happily with his new found freinds
4. RJ meets up with other animals and secretly gets the food back, whilst avoiding a pest exterminator
3. The bear tells RJ to get his food back
2. RJ fails to get food, so steals it off a bear
1. RJ lives happily

Conclusion
• All the films shown in this show prove Todorov’s theory
• Plus, if you think about it, nearly every plot proves it too.
