Book WeekWeek 4 is Book Week!
Children can start thinking about a book character
that they can dress up as, and if possible bring the book to school that their
character is from.
Book FairWe are pleased to announce the Book Fair
is returning again this year. It will set up and run from Friday 30th October until
Friday 6th November in room 5. It will open from 8.30 am to 9 am daily and from 3 pm to 4 pm daily Monday to Friday. We can take cash and also credit cards. Please
support this as it's a great fundraiser for our school. A great chance to buy those
Christmas presents for family and friends.
Faith FactsBased on “Our Faith, Our Future” (a pastoral letter from Bishop Paul Martin SM)
outlining his vision for the future of the diocese.Healthy families and organisations need good leadership, not simply a coordination
of views and opinions. A diocesan bishop is appointed to be much more than the facilitator of ministries. A bishop is called to be a leader, knowing and
understanding the treasure that is the Catholic Faith, and ensuring that this faith is communicated as the person of Jesus Christ who is the answer to every human
needed and the purpose of every diocesan and parish project. I am committed to doing my best to serve you in this way.The Lord’s Prayer: ..Thy Kingdom come
When we say this part of the Lord’s Prayer we are calling for Christ to come again, as He promised, and for God’s reign, to prevail. Paul in Romans 14:17 says, “For the
kingdom of God…[is] righteousness and peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.” For us in our daily lives to will everything that God wills, in all circumstances and without
hesitation, that is, helping to build the kingdom of God.
New World Little Garden CompetitionNew World Waimate ran a colouring competition last term and very kindly
donated 3 amazing Little Garden prize packs for us.
Nana Pam judged the competition and found it very difficult to choose as the colouring was of an incredibly high standard. Well done!

Pet DayIn the last week of term 3, we joined in with Waimate Main School for Pet
Day. There was a wide variety of pets, a sheepdog display and even a sausage sizzle. A great way to end the term!
It was a lovely day on Sunday the 23rd August at the First
Holy Communion Mass for 4 of our year 4-6 students. I would
like to congratulate Olivia, Jonty, Ryan & Lila on
completing their studies then receiving their very First
Communion joined by their family, friends and teachers.
The children received a gift of a cross from St Patrick’s School
which can be worn to school under their uniform.
On Friday my school and I went to a Pet day and I saw my Mum with our
dog. We got a photo with our dog. He is a Staffe and is 60 years old. After I saw Andre and he took me to see the
cats. Then we saw dogs herding sheep. It was one of my favourite days ever!

When the school and I went to pet day at Waimate Main School I saw two budgies and a tortoise in the hall.
There was a sheepdog show too and I brought my cat BB. BB stands for big
blue and flossy our other cat hid under her blanket. I loved it because I
got to see all the other animals. By Cameron Charles
Pet day was amazing
because there were puppies that we got to pick up. All the puppies had
different colours. By CJ
Pirate DayAhar me hearties … another fun Pirate Day at St. Patrick’s School. It always
amazes the staff how creative the children are (and some parents!) with their costumes. We had a range of pirates, from scary to cute and
everything in between! We read Pirate books, chose our Pirate names, played pirate games and may have had a treat or two!
The best part at Pirate day was when everybody got a big pirate photo. The worst part was when the sun was in my
eyes when we were taking photos of one person at a time. By Niamh
